NETIA Software Solution to Simplify and Automate Multiplatform Content Delivery Workflow for Leading Telecommunications Brand
CLARET, France â€” May 3, 2010 â€” NETIA today announced that it has provided Orange, the key brand of leading telecommunications operator France Telecom, with a content management system (CMS) designed to support Telco operators’ end-to-end media management and distribution needs. Built on NETIA’s versatile Manreoâ„¢ media asset management (MAM) system, the CMS will enable Orange to store, manage, and distribute content to any service provider or multimedia platform.
“Manreo allows for very flexible workflow management that is designed graphically and is easily configurable. It also allows us to manage metadata at several levels, which fits our needs perfectly,” said Pierre Louis Pipitone, head of department, Major Projects TV. “The content division team will use a global GUI to achieve a full view of the entire content management system, and will be able to supervise both workflows and the actual cataloging of content more efficiently.”
The NETIA CMS for Orange ingests content from sources such as post houses, production facilities, and traditional TV and radio broadcasters. Central to the system, Manreo’s HyperCast Warehouse interfaces with ingest, production, automation, and storage applications to streamline automatic take-on of high-resolution media and associated metadata. The software enriches media with supplemental metadata, in turn enabling faster searches and better access to stored content. The CMS also supports preparation of content for delivery, performing metadata extraction, transcoding, quality checking, image processing, and subtitle management.
In managing the entire workflow, the CMS leverages the NETIA Workflow Engine to organize media management processes, harmonize exchanges between different applications, handle prioritization across the system, and automate content distribution processes. To streamline content delivery itself, the CMS provides tools for content packaging, metadata tagging, and rights management, with workflow-supervision guiding these processes. Configurable rules govern the delivery of content to specific service providers and numerous platforms ranging from VOD to set-top box, catch-up TV, and Internet news portals.
