Auralex Introduces Digital Room Analysis Form

New Digital Process Creates Quicker Assessment of Customer’s Acoustical Needs

INDIANAPOLIS, IN, AUGUST 30, 2011 — Auralex Acoustics, Inc., the industry leader in innovative sound control solutions, launches the newest innovation to its Free Personalized Room Analysis service, a Digital Personalized Room Analysis Form (Digital PRAF). As a digital upgrade to the company’s existing Free Personalized Room Analysis service, the new digital form will allow for a more efficient customer experience.

The new digital process enables room information to be fed directly into the Auralex database, so the company’s Application Specialists can immediately begin evaluating the room’s acoustical needs. This direct stream of data drastically shortens the process and, ultimately, the acoustical analysis completion time. However, if customers still desire the paper version of this form, authorized Auralex dealers will have it on hand. more

Metropolis Group Adds Oxford Limiters & EQS to all 10 Suites

miles-showell-metropolis.jpgOXFORD, UK: Europe’s largest independent mastering facility, The Metropolis Group, has purchased a significant package of 10 Sonnox Oxford Limiters and 10 Oxford EQs. Sonnox Sales & Marketing Manager Nathan Eames reports, the substantial plug-in acquisition was vetted by Metropolis Group Technology Development Manager, Crispin Murray. “We test drove a good number of plug-ins, and Sonnox were the ones that everyone seemed to come back to,” Murray said. “Because they were the most transparent of all we tried, they are now installed in all ten of our mastering suites.”

Mastering engineer Miles Showell comments, “Transparency is particularly important with loudness. I don’t think we’re mastering any louder than we used to. We won’t go down the ‘level at all costs’ route, but you do need to compete. If your stuff isn’t loud enough, clients will just go elsewhere. It’s better that we do it as cleanly as possible, rather than just smash the hell out of something, to get it loud. The Oxford Limiter is the cleanest one we have. I use it on probably 85% of my work and have come up with a setting with a slight tape compression feel to it, which makes things sound really nice. more
