Cameroon Radio and Television Upgrades to NETIA’s Radio-Assist(TM) 8 Automation Software

CLARET, France — Jan. 24, 2012 — NETIA today announced that public national broadcaster Cameroon Radio and Television (CRTV) is upgrading to the Radio-Assist(TM) 8 range of digital audio automation software, delivered by Belgian systems integrator Studiotech. The added functionality and scalability of Radio-Assist 8 will enable CRTV to support both national and regional broadcast channels, to improve production and delivery of quality audio content, and ultimately help the broadcaster to increase its listening audience.

“In early 2000, we made the decision to transition from analog to digital operations, and we required a radio automation system that would support that shift,” said Timothée Metomo Eduma, post-production exploitation chief of service at CRTV. “Working with Studiotech, we requested an open system that would be easy for all technical and nontechnical users to adopt, and NETIA’s Radio-Assist proved to be the best solution. Since its installation, the NETIA system has served us very well, and the upgrade to version 8 will provide valuable capabilities, as well as excellent ergonomics and a pleasant, intuitive GUI that distinguishes the NETIA software from its competitors.”

“NETIA’s Radio-Assist 8 is a complete end-to-end solution that covers the entire production process,” said Jean Marc Rosenberg, technical manager at Studiotech. “In addition to being the most intuitive, easy-to-use radio automation solution, it offers strong database management tools and optimizes security through both server redundancy and automatic synchronization of content. Finally, Radio-Assist 8 provides solid rights management tools that will be useful in CRTV’s operations.”

The Radio-Assist family of digital audio software covers each part of the production and broadcast workflow, making it easy for users to record, edit, or prepare a playlist. The solution is also equipped with a broad range of tools for end-to-end multimedia workflow. The installation at CRTV will enable as many as 150 users to work with the system, thus contributing to a faster and more collaborative workflow, as well as a better end product for listeners.

“CRTV is a very influential broadcaster within Cameroon, and we’re pleased to be continuing our longstanding relationship with the company and its integrator,” said Pascal Cima, export sales manager at NETIA. “The original Radio-Assist installation a decade ago and the current upgrade at CRTV demonstrate not only the flexibility and long-term value of NETIA solutions, but also the forward-looking design and development of our software offerings.”

Radio-Assist(TM) 8 NETIA will showcase its Radio-Assist(TM) 8 range of digital audio automation software at BES EXPO 2012. Equipped with a broad range of tools for end-to-end multimedia workflows, the newest version of NETIA’s acclaimed software suite now extends beyond traditional broadcasting, allowing users to prepare publication at an early stage in the workflow. Publication is prepared at the same level as the on-air thanks to new planning tools.

NETIA’s Radio-Assist family of digital audio software programs covers each part of the production and broadcast workflow, allowing users to record, edit, or prepare a playlist. In addition to new browse and publishing tools for full multimedia functionality, the software features tools for acquisition, sound-file editing, commercial and music production, newsroom systems, scheduling, multicasting, administration, and more.

Radio-Assist is now also integrated with NETIA’s Content Management System (CMS), offering an automatic publishing engine for all media as well as managing associated metadata and linked media. By interfacing with NETIA’s Media Asset Management system, Radio-Assist 8 responds efficiently to the needs of media groups having to manage and share video, audio, images, and text throughout their entities.

Radio-Assist 8 provides instant access to all types of media, archived or online. Regardless of the storage medium, items can be previewed and restored for repurposing and distribution, both for broadcasting and for multiplatform distribution.

Radio-Assist 8 makes three different types of publishing available to users. With the software’s new “Publication” tab, journalists can publish audio-only content and its metadata; publish audio and associated media, such as video, text, or images; or prepare a group of items for automatic conversion and publishing to an array of destinations, such as a podcast, posting on the Internet, or delivery to mobile devices.

CMS allows NETIA customers to streamline all of their production processes globally thanks to simple, easy-to-manage workflows and task automation. The new software suite also allows users to connect all of their partners and vendors within a single production ecosystem, simplifying the sharing and managing of media assets. Users can now manage all of the processes within the production environment — from editing through post and distribution — through one unique and easy-to-use interface. The new Web-based interface, built on Microsoft(R) Silverlight(R) technology, allows for more performance and greater security.

CMS provides for ingest and quality control; metadata extraction and tagging; search, browse, and low-res proxy generation; integration with key third-party systems including QA, tape/disk-based archive, nonlinear editing, playout, and traffic automation; and multiplatform delivery to mobile TV, VOD/catch-up TV, IPTV, Web streaming, and HD and SD distribution platforms.

Auralex Presents SonoFlat Grid at the 2012 NAMM Show

Panels Designed to Help Improve Common Acoustical Issues Including Excessive Reverberation and Flutter Echo in Small- to Medium-Sized Areas

ANAHEIM, CA, JANUARY 23, 2012 — Auralex Acoustics, Inc., the industry leader in innovative sound control solutions, highlights its new SonoFlat Grid panels at the 2012 NAMM Show (Hall A, Booth 6798).

A new take on its popular SonoFlat product, each Auralex SonoFlat Grid measures 2ft. x 2ft. x 2in. and is composed of nine 8in. x 8in. beveled squares. Made from Auralex’s proprietary Studiofoam, these panels offer the impressive mid- and high-frequency absorption that the original SonoFlat panels are known for, as well as the elegant look that makes them a great addition to any studio or home theater.

“The SonoFlat Grid was developed out of our clients’ desires to have a price-conscious foam solution with a completely unique, modern appeal aesthetically,” says Mike Buratto, acoustical engineer at Auralex Acoustics. “We were able to achieve this with improved low-frequency performance over our more classic Studiofoam cuts.”

The new SonoFlat Grid Panels’ unique design makes them appropriate for both studio and home theater applications. The panels are available in charcoal coloring and are made from Auralex’s melamine-free formula, which won’t crumble with age.

Auralex Highlights New Studiofoam Wave Panels at the 2012 NAMM Show

Studiofoam Wave Panels Offer Aesthetically Pleasing Visuals, Mid- and High- Frequency Sound Solution

ANAHEIM, CA, JANUARY 20, 2012 — Auralex Acoustics, Inc., the industry leader in innovative sound control solutions, showcases its new Studiofoam Wave panels at the 2012 NAMM Show (Hall A, Booth 6798).

Auralex’s new Studiofoam Wave is 2 ft. x 2 ft. and is between 1 to 3 in. thick due to the wave design of the panel. Providing varying levels of thickness, Studiofoam Wave can help control unwanted mid- or high-frequency reflections and standing waves in a variety of applications, such as vocal booths, control rooms, live rooms, rehearsal spaces and project studios. These panels will clean up the sound in any room and are a cost-effective alternative to fiberglass cloth-covered panels.

The panels are available in charcoal coloring and are made from Auralex’s melamine-free formula, which won’t crumble with age. The new “wave” profile opens up many different design possibilities and can add a contemporary aesthetic to any space.

“The Studiofoam Wave is a reinvention of the best-selling Studiofoam line, giving our customers another alternative to our more traditional panels,” says Mike Buratto, acoustical engineer at Auralex Acoustics. “These are a great way to create a totally different vibe in your space, while maintaining the acoustic integrity that Auralex is known for.”

Studiofoam Wave panels can be used to help improve common acoustical issues such as excessive reverberation and flutter echo in small- to medium-sized areas and can be used with common mechanical fasteners such as t-pins, finish nails and tacks, as well as Auralex Foamtak or Tubetak for easy, removable installation.

Sennheiser launches “no worries” RF wireless systems

Anaheim, Calif. – January 19, 2012 – Audio specialist Sennheiser is launching its brand new XS Wireless Series at the 2012 NAMM Show. Designed for users who want to easily go wireless, this entry-level series offers complete sets with sturdy units, simple operation and high quality sound. The transmitters have a battery life of up to 10 hours, while a switching bandwidth of up to 24 MHz allows for flexibility in the choice of frequencies. The series is comprised of two vocal sets, an instrument system and presentation sets with clip-on microphone or a headmic.

“With the XS Wireless Series, Sennheiser offers reliability and quality sound at an entry-level price,” explained Martin Fischer, Product Manager for Sennheiser’s wireless systems. “It offers good value for money and will benefit small event and conference venues, houses of worship as well as bands, vocalists and musicians.”

Wireless without fuss
The designers have focused on ease of use: the systems are operated via intuitive menus, they automatically search for free frequencies, and transmitters are synchronized with their receivers via a wireless link. “We wanted to make sure that users can fully concentrate on their performance, their speech, etc. without having to worry too much about the set-up and technology,” Fischer said.

Extras for bands…
XS Wireless includes two systems for vocalists and one instrument set for guitarists. Vocalists can choose between a handheld with a super-cardioid condenser capsule and one that includes a genuine dynamic e 835 capsule. “The XSW 35 system takes the assertive sound of the cardioid e 835 to new user groups,” Fischer added.

… and speakers
For installed sound applications and presentations, users can choose between systems with a handheld transmitter or a bodypack transmitter with either a head-worn mic or an unobtrusive clip-on microphone. Mute buttons on the handheld and the bodypack ensure that speakers are in control of the transmission.

Ruggedness and flexibility
To withstand the rigors of daily use, the true-diversity receiver is housed in a sturdy metal case. In the transmitters, one set of batteries will last for up to 10 hours—not only good for energetic stage shows, but also for long events and conferences. The systems feature freely tunable frequencies within a switching bandwidth of 24 MHz (13 MHz for the E frequency range). This allows up to 12 wireless links to be operated simultaneously, ensuring trouble-free operation even at somewhat larger events.
