NETIA Products at the 2012 NAB Show:

New! Radio-Assist(TM) 8.1 — Upgraded Radio Automation NETIA will showcase enhancements to its Radio-Assist(TM) 8 range of digital audio automation software at the 2012 NAB Show. Radio-Assist 8.1 will offer the same robust array of tools for streamlined end-to-end multimedia production, broadcast, and publication workflows, as well as additions including two significant features: a new integrated music scheduling application and new video editing capability from within a single user interface.

NETIA’s Radio-Assist family of digital audio software programs covers each part of the production and broadcast workflow, allowing users to record, edit, or prepare a playlist. In addition to new browse and publishing tools for full multimedia functionality, the software features tools for acquisition, sound-file editing, commercial and music production, newsroom systems, scheduling, multicasting, and administration.

Radio-Assist 8.1 will allow users to leverage built-in music scheduling functionality. With music management tools integrated into Radio-Assist 8.1′s FederAll playlist preparation module, users will be able to automate playlist generation according to preset criteria, business policies, and a wide range of intelligent options for sequencing music.

The video editing tool now available within the Radio-Assist 8.1 interface complements the software’s Snippet and Snippet+ audio editing tools. Offering a convenient editing solution, this enhancement addresses the growing demand for radio broadcasters to provide video via their online portals. This simple and easy-to-use editing tool is available through the same GUI as the Snippet tool, providing familiar utility that allows staff to produce video clips with very little training.

During the 2012 NAB Show, NETIA will highlight further functional and technical enhancements that add to the value of Radio-Assist 8.1 in today’s radio broadcast operations.

New! Content Management System At the 2012 NAB Show, NETIA will launch a new version of its Content Management System (CMS) that allows users to manage all processes within the global production environment — from editing through post and distribution — through simple, easy-to-manage workflows and task automation, accessed through one unique and easy-to-use interface. The NETIA software suite also allows users to connect all of their partners and vendors within a single production ecosystem, simplifying the sharing and managing of media assets.

The CMS that will be presented at the 2012 NAB Show includes enriched features within its metadata management module, as well as in its indexing functionality. The CMS GUI includes a greater number of fields that can be personalized, and the system’s metadata template can be customized by users. A multilingual thesaurus module available in this new CMS release ensures there are endless possibilities for very precisely describing content, in turn making it easier for users to access and retrieve specific content. Finally, the CMS will include an enhanced administration application that further simplifies system management.

SOLID STATE LOGIC’S BROADCAST EQUIPMENT DEMONSTRATION VEHICLE BEGINS ITS EPIC U.S. TOUR

SSL teams up with technology partners Genelec, Miranda and RTS to showcase the C10 HD Compact Broadcast Console in a state-of-the-art mobile broadcast studio

NEW YORK – Solid State Logic is proud to announce its newly completed Broadcast Equipment Demonstration Vehicle has set out on a non-stop tour of the United States and Canada. The tour began in San Antonio, Texas on Feb 1, 2012 and will continue onwards for the next three years. The custom designed mobile production vehicle features SSL’s C10 HD Compact Broadcast Console and associated routing and I/O solutions in conjunction with all of the key audio and video monitoring and communications systems required for a modern broadcast production facility. Housed in a Russ Berger designed acoustically accurate space, the vehicle enables potential clients to have hands-on experience of SSL’s on-air audio production technology right outside their front door.

“This is an incredibly exciting moment for us,” says Piers Plaskitt, CEO of SSL Inc. “This vehicle gives us a unique opportunity to take a sophisticated broadcast production environment out on the road to connect directly with our customers in their own locality. We know that money is tight and that many organisations simply can’t send as many people to exhibitions like NAB anymore so this vehicle gives us the chance to show the whole production team the benefits of SSL and our partners’ technology. Bringing a mini-NAB to our clients ties in nicely with the way we have designed the product to fit today’s more challenging budgets. The vehicle is equipped to demonstrate a range of broadcast production systems and will be visiting local broadcast stations, sports arenas and houses of worship. This is also a fantastic opportunity for us to visit our extensive network of educational clients to share knowledge and insight with aspiring young audio engineers. We serve up an impressive cup of coffee, too!”

The SSL Broadcast Equipment Demonstration Vehicle, designed by SSL’s Project Engineering team, was built on a 2012 F550 Ford chassis with a custom body and was crafted by leading mobile vehicle specialist Shook Mobile Technology. Russ Berger Design Group (RBDG) provided the acoustic design for the space using both absorbing and diffusing treatments as well as SpaceCoupler technology for the ceiling. The vehicle is presented in association with SSL’s technology partners: Genelec, Miranda, RTS and Savant. The truck demonstrates the capabilities of all of these systems and the integration that is possible between them.

The mobile control room space is completely climate controlled, sound isolated and treated to provide a comfortable and acoustically accurate demonstration environment. The space can accommodate several people and a larger group can watch demonstrations from outside the vehicle via an external audio monitoring system and video display, which is linked to internal cameras.

The audio monitoring system inside the vehicle is a complete Genelec 8020.LSE Espresso 5.1 system, which consists of five Genelec 8020B two-way, bi-amplified active monitors matched with a Genelec 7050B LSE™ Series Active Subwoofer. A pair of 6010A Bi-Amplified Active Monitors for PFL (pre-fade listen) and a pair of 8030A Bi-Amplified Monitors for the outdoor display round out the audio system. A Miranda Kaleido-X16 multi-viewer offers high quality and space efficient monitoring with silent operation, and Miranda’s Densité processing offers simplified signal management using multi-functional modules. An RTS Adam-M system with two key panels is employed for intercom, while a Savant True Image interface handles the vehicle’s lighting and video switching.

The SSL Broadcast Equipment Demonstration Vehicle will visit local U.S. broadcasters, houses of worship, systems integrators, key sports and entertainment events, as well as being showcased at trade exhibitions. The schedule for 2012 begins with demonstrations in Texas, moving on to locations in New Mexico, Arizona and California, stopping in Las Vegas for the NAB Show in April, on to Utah and then the Eastern Seaboard.

Prism Sound’s New Loudness Test Suite Allows Broadcasters To Deliver Flawless and Legally Compliant Audio

With the CALM Act now law in the US and compliance soon to be mandatory, Prism Sound is using the NAB 2012 platform to highlight the importance of loudness meter verification by showing a new application for its award-winning dScope Series III audio analyzer.

This unique, freely-available test suite allows broadcasters and manufacturers to determine whether every aspect of their meter design complies with the latest international loudness standards.

Developed by Dr Rich Cabot, Founder and CTO of Qualis Audio, and Ian Dennis, joint-founder and CTO of Prism Sound, this comprehensive new suite of audio tests can be used to evaluate the performance and compliance of any loudness meter on the market. As US broadcasters are now legally obliged to comply with the ATSC A/89 standards, Prism Sound’s new test suite enables them to properly evaluate all loudness meters and ensure that their chosen product can deliver both ATSC and ITU BS.1770 compliance.

The new test suite will be on show at Prism Sound’s NAB 2012 booth (C3029). Visitors to the booth can obtain a FREE set of wave files and dScope Series III test files for verifying the performance of their loudness meters. The wave files have been specifically designed to expose any design flaws in a loudness meter, and the dScope Series III programmable test suite replicates these test signals in a highly convenient format, allowing the waveforms to be sourced directly from the dScope Series III digital signal generator.

Prism Sound is widely regarded as the leading expert in the field of audio test and measurement. The company offers a range of audio test solutions including the highly-acclaimed dScope Series III instrument, which incorporates precision, automatic gain-ranging that allows high resolution analogue measurements over a massive range, from a few micro-volts to more than 150 volts RMS, and from less than 1 Hz to over 90kHz. Its dedicated hardware interface uses DSP to provide a wide range of real time measurements, while its software exploits the host PC for almost unlimited number crunching and analysis options such as Fast Fourier Transforms, unique ‘Smart FFT’ soft instruments, swept sine and multi-tone testing. Designed to be highly programmable, the dScope Series III can be automated from a wide range of third-party software applications using Active X controls, or internally using VBScript.

Prism Sound will be showcasing its full range of audio Test & Measurement solutions at NAB 2012, 16–19 April, 2012, Las Vegas Convention Centre, Las vegas UAS, Booth C3029. For further information visit www.prismsound.com
