Sudan Radio Upgrades to NETIA’s Radio-Assist(TM) 8.1 Audio Automation Software

CLARET, France — July 30, 2013 — NETIA today announced that Sudan Radio has upgraded its operations to the Radio-Assist(TM) 8.1 range of digital audio automation software. Sudan Radio first launched Radio-Assist in 2005, after working closely with NETIA to migrate its tape-based archives to digital. With this upgrade to version 8.1, the North African broadcaster will take advantage of the NETIA solution’s newly enhanced tools for broadcasting, editing, and music scheduling.

“We chose to upgrade our current NETIA installation not only because we wish to remain at the forefront of new broadcast technology, but also because we have found the company’s Radio-Assist software to be a reliable and efficient system,” said Hassan Mostafa, IT and digital archive manager at Sudan Radio. “Staff members across Sudan Radio are already familiar with this NETIA solution, so it will take them very little time to get a grip on the new functionalities offered by the latest software release.”

NETIA’s Radio-Assist family of digital audio software programs covers each part of the production and broadcast workflow, allowing users to record, edit, or prepare a playlist. In addition to new browse and publishing tools for full multimedia functionality, the software features tools for acquisition, sound-file editing, commercial and music production, newsroom systems, scheduling, multicasting, and administration.

With the upgrade to Radio-Assist 8.1, Sudan Radio will enjoy the benefit of built-in music scheduling functionality. With music management tools integrated into the software’s Feder-All playlist preparation module, users will be able to automate playlist generation according to preset criteria, business policies, and a wide range of intelligent options for sequencing music.

To ensure a smooth transition to the new software release, NETIA has trained Sudan Radio’s 40 Radio-Assist users on the solution’s enhanced AIR DDO broadcasting module.

“Sudan Radio is a longstanding NETIA client, and we share a history of collaboration in establishing highly efficient radio broadcast workflows,” said Marc Bawol, MEA sales manager at NETIA. “We’re pleased that through this relationship, we have been able to introduce further efficiencies in bringing Sudan Radio programming to air.”

Focusrite RedNet System Simplifies Connectivity for Southwestern College’s Center for Recording Arts & Technology

Immersive audio arts program adds two RedNet 5 HD interfaces for Pro Tools® and three RedNet 2 16-channel analog interfaces

Los Angeles, CA, July 30, 2013 – The Recording Arts & Technology program at Southwestern College in the San Diego California suburb of Chula Vista is one of the nation’s top audio programs. Begun in May 2008, under the direction of Professor Jay Henry, a two-time Grammy® award nominee for his engineering and production skills, the Recording Arts & Technology program prepares students for careers in the entertainment industries of music, television and film, utilizing state-of-the-art music studios and labs for a hands-on learning experience that emphasizes fundamental recording technique and knowledge. Henry entered the music industry decades ago, and has experienced the huge changes in the music recording industry; he has kept his educational program flexible to adapt to the changes yet to come. That’s why he was excited to discover Focusrite’s RedNet networked audio I/O technology. In recent weeks, Prof. Henry directed the purchase of two RedNet 5 HD interfaces for his Pro Tools|HD systems coupled with three RedNet 2 16-channel analog I/O interfaces for his main recording and satellite mixing rooms. Once these units are installed, the two studios at the core of the Recording Arts and Technology program will be able to be completely networked, allowing seamless access of audio between rooms and giving students and faculty a high degree of flexibility in how those facilities are used.

“We’ve kept this program at the cutting edge since it began, and we’ve been waiting for a networked solution like RedNet to come along for a while,” explains Henry, whose professional and personal affinity for Focusrite products goes way back through his relationship with long-time colleague and current Focusrite Novation Inc. President Phil Wagner. “Phil and I go way back, and we understand how you need to both address the cutting edge of technology and also make sure that the sound is always the first consideration. I get that with the Focusrite RedNet system – we get seamless connectivity and the built-in Dante networking, and of course great sound at the same time. Focusrite has never let me down, and it’s going to be a great benefit for our students and teachers here too, as RedNet represents the future for recording and interconnectivity.”

Henry added, “The best thing sonically about RedNet is the detail and width of the stereo image, which is a direct result of RedNet’s next generation A/D – D/A design and analog circuitry. RedNet sounds more open; it’s like taking the roof off your mix.“

RedNet is Focusrite’s flagship range of modular Ethernet-networked audio interfaces that harnesses the power of Audinate’s tried and tested Dante digital audio networking system to bring studio quality sound to any modern audio application.

RedNet 5 connects your RedNet system to Pro Tools|HD via a standard DigiLink or Mini DigiLink cable. Up to six units can be connected to one Pro Tools HDX system, supporting up to 192 channels at 96 kHz or 96 channels at 192 kHz. Pro Tools|HD Native and Pro Tools|HD are also supported. RedNet 5 is interoperable with other Pro Tools® interfaces and features extremely low latency.

RedNet 2 adds 16 analog channels in and out to your RedNet network and can be located anywhere you can run an Ethernet cable. Featuring Focusrite’s precision 24-bit A-D and D-A conversion for superb audio performance, it delivers 119 dB dynamic range at sample rates up to 192 kHz. The rear panel includes standard DB25 connectors for analogue patchbay or breakout cable interfacing.

BASSMAXX Launches DiaMon DJ112: Huge Sound, Tiny Box

Self-powered monitor with amazing size to output ratio and unique design

Austin, TX (July 25, 2013)
BASSMAXX proudly announces the availability of their new, very compact and very loud DiaMon DJ112. The DiaMon DJ112 gives venues more options for speaker placement without compromising on sound. It also provides mobile DJs big system volume while keeping setup time and effort to a bare minimum.

The DiaMon DJ112 is fully self-contained and needs nothing more than power and signal to be ready to play. Despite its small size, it has the output to keep up with several subwoofers. For portable applications, it’s intended to be mounted on a pole-stand above one or more of the BASSMAXX Profundo Series subwoofers. Used with a subwoofer system, the DiaMon is a powerful main speaker, capable of remarkable clarity at very high sound levels.

An example of their extraordinary size to output ratio came when world-famous DJ Andy C. was presented with them as his monitors. On seeing their size, his comment “That’s not going to do, mate!” was quickly followed by amazement at their volume. “What have you put in those things? I don’t think we need the mains!”

The DiaMon DJ112 is a high-output, self-powered, bi-amped, co-axial monitor that features a neodymium magnet 700W 12” woofer; a 3″ voice coil, a 1.4” exit compression driver; and a 1500W amplifier with an integrated digital signal processor. The compression driver plays through the center of the woofer, making it a true point-source cabinet. Both the woofer and tweeter coils share the same magnetic structure to keep size and weight to a minimum, and the cabinet is barely bigger than the 12″ woofer. The 1500-watt class D Powersoft amplifier features built-in digital signal processing that provides crossover functions as well as a full complement of protections, limiters and equalizers that ensure accurate, consistent, and reliable operation.

An impressive example of how the DiaMon integrates elegantly into a venue’s décor while simultaneously creating an intense dance sound system can be found at AMPED in Austin, TX. AMPED, an upscale, two-story dance and live music club on Austin’s famed Sixth Street features a full BASSMAXX system install with four DiaMon DJ112s for the dance floor mains, paired with two BASSMAXX SSP218 Profundo Subwoofers. With a limited amount of space upstairs and a roof that opens to the sky, this set-up enables the club to minimize obstruction of the view while maximizing sound quality and quantity.

Not only are the size and the sound quality compelling, but the DiaMon DJ112’s unique design makes the monitor a talking point for both DJs and their audience. The angle-cut corner allows it to be placed on a table and used as a DJ monitor without pole-mounting. An adjustable wall-mount bracket is also available. Gregory Selph, Operating Partner at TREEHOUSE Miami was the first to put the DiaMon DJ112 to the test as a DJ monitor. “It’s an ultra forward design that you just don’t see in any other clubs…” he reports. “The DJs, especially the European DJs – they love it – I love it. Looks aside, if they didn’t take the beatings our system took each night then it wouldn’t matter how great they look. We have put our new DiaMon DJ112 monitors through a pretty tortuous three months test drive, and again – no disappointments.” DJ Luke Hunter experienced the performance of the DiaMonDJ12 first hand while performing at Treehouse Miami, and raved “I’m completely blown away!”

Features:
• Stunning Output-to-Size and Weight Ratio
• Elegant and Unique Design and Grill
• Bi-Amped Self-Powered with Built-In DSP
• 1500W Digital Class D Amplifier
• Point Source Co-Axial Loudspeaker Offers:
– Superior Coherence
– Excellent Off-Axis Response
– Reduction of Feedback
• Pole-Mount, Wall-Mount and Tabletop placement options

The DiaMon DJ112 is $2,953 MSRP. Further information at www.bassmaxx.com or by calling toll-free (855) 822-7770.

Jünger Audio Redefines Audio Processing at IBC 2013

Dynamics specialist Jünger Audio will use the IBC 2013 platform (Hall 10, Stand A49) to announce a new direction of creating solution based packages for its entire product range – one that is designed to make it much easier for customers to identify the exact processing solution they are looking for.

“As there is now a trend among some of our customers to use products like the T*AP (Television Audio Processor) for applications such as radio or PA, we decided to separate processing hardware from the feature set,” says Jünger Audio’s Managing Director Peter Pörs. “This change acknowledges the way in which many of our customers are working and allows Jünger Audio’s highly recognized functionality packages previously known as T*AP and M*AP to live on in common hardware.”

The new strategy will see Jünger Audio’s key hardware products marketed as universal processing platforms, with each one capable of handling transcoding and routing, as well as audio processing, and offering various ways of control including through automation or third party equipment. Instead of specific product names such as T*AP, M*AP and V*AP, Jünger Audio will now use these names to identify application packages. Once customers have chosen a processor with the right channel count and specified the application area they want to address (radio, TV, production, post production etc.), Jünger Audio will deliver the relevant software package with the audio processor box of choice to create a solution that exactly matches the customer’s needs.

“By using a universal processing platform, the new modularity of our product range will get as close as possible to each customer’s workflow,” Peter Pörs says. “Managing audio loudness with our renowned non-destructive Level Magic™ algorithm will be one of many features, along with 3G, HD and SD SDI embedded audio handling and high quality limiters, compressors, delays and equalisers. This modularity concept will also allow for specific coding hardware to decode, encode or transcode Dolby®-E, Dolby®-D (AC-3) and Dolby® Digital plus (E-AC-3), as well as HE-AAC formats.”

Pörs adds that the proliferation of distribution formats has made audio quality control during production more important than ever.

“In the past it might have been sufficient to monitor only the main mix, ignoring all transport coding and metadata implications,” he says. “But with all the simulcast formats in use today, the production team needs to simulate the home listening experience by real time metadata emulation. Adding this functionality to a hardware based monitoring controller, combined with loudness measurement and logging features, is the feature set of our QC and production monitoring solution M*AP.

“We are clearly refocusing on production and the fantastic first feedback we have received for our new voice processor V*AP evidently signals that we’re on the right track with our range of products. The V*AP offers all the processing arsenal you need for highest quality voice processing including mic preamps, compressors, expanders, limiters, and voice optimized equalizers. The V*AP also includes a voice optimized version of Spectral Signature, a process using individual spectral reference footprints as a real-time comparison reference for incoming audio, adding filtering only if it is necessary to generate spectral consistency.”

Pörs adds that the company’s extensive product range will now include a plug-in version of Level Magic™ in native plugin formats (VST, RTAS, AU, AAX, Audiosuite, etc.) for MAC and PC, 32- and 64-bit systems. This will be launched at IBC 2013.

“For the first time ever it will be possible for production staff using equipment such as Pro Tools to control audio loudness using our Level Magic™ algorithm,” he says. The addition of a plug-in to our range means that, from production right though to transmission, broadcasters can use Level Magic™ processing throughout their entire production and broadcasting chain.”

If you would like more information about Junger Audio’s universal processing platforms, please visit the company in Hall 10, Stand A49.

NETIA Products at IBC2013

NEW RELEASE: Radio-Assist(TM) 8.2 Automation Solution
NETIA is unveiling version 8.2 of the company’s Radio-Assist(TM) digital audio software suite at IBC2013. This latest release of NETIA’s flagship software boasts three powerful enhancements, all of which will be showcased throughout the show.

Cloud Management
The introduction of cloud-based management for Radio-Assist(TM) gives users the ability to access the system database from any network-connected workstation. Particularly valuable for multisite radio broadcasters, this capability enables authorized users anywhere to access, retrieve, and work on the same content, without the need for time-consuming media transfers. In addition to enabling faster, more productive operations through shared media access, cloud-based management enables broadcasters to reduce reliance on server infrastructures and, in turn, lower the total cost of ownership.

By storing content in the cloud, Radio-Assist can serve as an online production database or as an online content archive. Radio-Assist archiving tools enable seamless management of the archive/restoration process in the cloud. Users can simply trigger the archiving process as a background task and subsequently use simple search requests to retrieve content. In disaster recovery situations, the content stored in the cloud by Radio-Assist can help to ensure continuity of service even when ground-based facilities are compromised.

iSnippet Audio Editing Tool for iPhone(R) and iPad(R)
The Snippet range of editing tools available within the Radio-Assist(TM) automation products is now available for iOS devices. Sharing the same look and ergonomic principles as the Snippet desktop interface, the new iPhone(R)- and iPad(R)-compatible iSnippet tool allows field reporters and other remote users to enjoy the Radio-Assist audio editing capabilities — familiar from the desktop — on their portable devices.

Teleprompter
The new teleprompter module for the Radio-Assist(TM) suite gives presenters and journalists convenient visual access to news scripts, which scroll continuously down the presenter’s screen and is linked to the playout system in the studio. Customizable features such as text size, color selection, automatic speed control that adapts to reading speed, and read length may be configured in user profiles that are tailored to presenter preferences.

NETIA Media Asset and Workflow Solutions
At IBC2013, NETIA will showcase the latest version of its media asset management (MAM) platform, which allows users to manage all processes within the global production environment — from editing through post and distribution — through simple, easy-to-manage workflows and task automation, and accessed through one unique and straightforward interface. This solution gives operators the ability to connect all of their partners and vendors within a single production ecosystem, simplifying the sharing and managing of media assets.

Metamodel Editor
The latest version includes new features within its metadata management module. Enriched with a new metamodel editor, this graphical tool enables the user to manage and customize the metadata model structure.

Monitoring
The new release of NETIA’s media asset and workflow solution includes a recording feature with which users can schedule specific recordings or continuous channel ingest. Video is stored in the MAM database along with corresponding transcript text files that are generated by a speech-to-text engine. A new monitoring feature facilitates the searching and browsing of these recorded channel feeds, either according to a timeline or through a full-text search. Upon locating the appropriate content, the user can extract, repurpose, and export the relevant video segment.
