Flux releases IRCAM SPAT v3 for AAX/AU/VST

Flux completes migration to v3 with the release of SPAT v3 adding support for AVID AAX and 64 bit systems.

Oceanside, California, USA – Flux Sound and Picture Development of Orleans, France is proud to announce the release of SPAT v3, a positional audio plug-in combining three independently definable surround reverbs in a single plug-in with the ability to position and animate, with full automation, mono and stereo sound sources within these reverberant spaces.

SPAT may also be used to position and animate sources with all reverbs disengaged. This advanced feature set makes SPAT an indispensable tool for post-production professionals for ADR.

SPAT has been embraced by many within the community of orchestral composers as a tool for placing instruments on a virtual performance stage for position-correct and convincing orchestral emulations.

SPAT v3 adds support for AVID’s new AAX Native plug-in format. In addition to AAX, Audio Units and VST remain supported on both Mac and Windows. SPAT v1 remains available for users of RTAS systems.

All Flux v3 audio tools support both 64 and 32 bit systems with sample rates up to 384K. The Flux v3 platform delivers exceptionally rich, informative and responsive metering with near zero CPU cost by distributing UI processing to your systems’ GPU. All Flux audio tools are 8-channel ready for surround applications up to 7.1. The only exception is the distinctly named Stereo Tool freeware.

SPAT v3 is available to current SPAT users for no charge. Download SPAT v3 here: www.fluxhome.com/download

iZotope Releases New BreakTweaker Expansion: Modern Grooves by Black Octopus

Cambridge, MA — iZotope Inc., a leading audio technology company, and Black Octopus, creators of high-quality sounds for music production, have released Modern Grooves, a new expansion pack for iZotope’s acclaimed drum sculpting and beat sequencing plug-in, BreakTweaker.

Featuring modern, clean, and crisp sounds with a dash of retro throwback, the expansion includes more than 300 sounds with 40 presets—all designed to have a timeless feel and work well with a wide range of material.

In an interview with iZotope, Black Octopus founder Toby Emerson describes his approach to creating Modern Grooves: “I hope the pack will provide something for artists of all skill levels. Users can start with the presets and then tweak the sounds to create something original… For people wanting to sketch ideas in the studio, I tried to lay out the patterns in a musically logical way—someone could jam out full tracks on the fly just by switching between the patterns using a keyboard or MIDI controller.”

Modern Grooves can be seen and heard on iZotope’s YouTube channel: http://youtu.be/y801efft7HU

Pricing and availability:

• Modern Grooves is available now at iZotope.com for $39.00.

Music Marcom Marks 10th Year

PR & Marketing agency serves over 50 music companies over the past decade, looks to the future

Phoenix, AZ (June 23, 2014) – Music Marcom (www.musicmarcom.com) is celebrating 10 years in business in 2014. During that time, the company has successfully provided marketing communications services to over 50 musical instrument, professional audio, and music technology companies as well as recording facilities and audio industry professionals.

Combining their collective PR and marketing experience from such companies as Guitar Center, Magix Entertainment, SDI Media, Steinberg Media Technologies and Fender Musical Instruments, Brian and Martina McConnon founded Music Marcom in 2004. “We actually met at the NAMM show in Anaheim, California,” points out Brian McConnon. “We have different, but complimentary skills sets that allow us to cover a lot of ground for our clients.”

The vision was to provide small to mid-size companies a menu of expert marketing and communications services as an alternative to an expensive in-house department. By keeping Music Marcom focused and specialized, they are able to provide a tremendous value for their clients. “As we ramped up, we found this formula fit a wide range of situations, from start-ups that need the entire portfolio of marketing services, to mid-size companies that need product launch or tradeshow support, and large corporations that need focused and targeted PR,” says Martina McConnon.

Kim Pfluger, PR and Events Manager for iZotope, Inc. said, “iZotope has had the pleasure of working with Music Marcom since the very beginning. Their focus, attention to detail, and assertiveness continue to build our brand in the Pro Audio, MI, and Post Production industries, as well as new industries and geographic locations. Up for anything, they deliver great results with a positive attitude, fostering close relationships with the media on iZotope’s behalf.”

As the industry has evolved, so too has the way Music Marcom markets their clients’ products and brands. “The shift to digital media has created more opportunities to engage customers, but it has also fragmented the landscape into specific interests and preferences,” adds McConnon. “We help clients plan and implement traditional PR and marketing strategies with modern digital, social, and content marketing strategies for a completely integrated approach.”

“We have been working with Music Marcom for the last five years to help us gain better product recognition of our musician oriented publications in the MI space,” said John Cerullo, Group Publisher, Hal Leonard Performing Arts Publishing Group. “They have done an amazing job augmenting our in-house efforts, which is exactly what we needed when we started this relationship. Brian and Martina have been wonderful to work with and are very engaged with both our publications and authors. This makes all the difference in the end results. We look forward to working with them well into the future.”

The complete guide to mastering the bass guitar

Montclair, NJ (June 17, 2014) – This updated version of Adrian Ashton’s step-by-step course in playing the bass guitar is the latest addition to Backbeat Book’s popular Handbook Series.

“Adrian’s book tells you everything you could possibly want to know about instruments, amplifiers, effects, players, setups, and history. It’s all here. Not to mention just plain interesting stuff that even an old hand like myself can find fascinating,” says John Paul Jones in the foreword of The Bass Handbook.

The electric bass guitar is central to modern music, playing a key role in melody, harmony, and rhythm. This book will help any bassists – beginners and advanced players – to master the instrument and find their own style. The book includes:

- A course in playing from tuning up to advanced harmony
- Guidance on how to read both tab and standard notation
- Instructions in modern techniques, including slapping and harmonics, and in how to improve your performance on stage and in a band
- Exercises in the style of ten great artists, including Paul McCartney, Flea, Bernard Edwards, Chris Wolstenholme, and James Jamerson
- Coverage of a range of genres, from rock and blues to jazz, funk, and metal
- A history of the electric bass and profiles of the most important instruments
- Biographies of the great players, plus recommended listening
- Advice on amps, speakers, strings, pickups, and cables
- The included CD contains 97 tracks of the book’s key musical exercises and examples.

“Writing with the authority and technical know-how of a player as well as an aficionado, Adrian has a dedication and obvious love of all things low frequency that makes this book no practicing or prospective bass guitarist can be without,” concludes John Paul Jones.
