BASSMAXX Launches New SSP215 Profundo Subwoofer

New SSP215 Profundo Subwoofer Delivers Output Comparable to Many Double 18” Subs from a Compact Double-15” Cabinet

Austin, TX (August 13, 2013) – BASSMAXX announces their new SSP215 Profundo Subwoofer, adual 15” loudspeaker powered by a 4000W amplifier with comprehensive onboard DSP. Thanks to its low height of only 17.5”, this extremely powerful sub can be placed under low stages and ceilings, and in tight corners where larger boxes won’t fit. Its largest dimension is 48” wide, which, when turned on end, makes the box an excellent stack platform for getting top boxes above the heads of the audience. The depth is a mere 22.5”, allowing it to be placed in front of stages with minimal loss of audience area and making the SSP215 a perfect truck-pack size for both 90” and 96” trucks. It’s also an outrageous drum monitor sub that minimizes space but maximizes impact.

At about half the size of the average double 18” subwoofer, the SSP215 is ideal for the mobile professional who needs substantial bass output but has limited transport space. For installations in lounges or restaurants where sound quality is a priority and space is limited, the SSP215 will comfortably take the place of double 18” boxes without loss of output or diminished frequency range while taking significantly less floor space.

The SSP215 easily competes with most double 18? subwoofers on the market, providing equal or better output with significantly less size and weight. The SSP215 is tuned low, providing linear response down to 35Hz (±3 dB) for use as a real subwoofer, with long-excursion, low distortion 15” woofers, and, thanks to the lower mass of the 15” cones, it delivers a tight, punchy sound as well as the deep, rolling bass.

The included amplifier provides 2400W to the on-board woofers. In addition, the amplifier can power a second matching cabinet, providing a total of 4000W. The SSP215 is a 4800W program rated double 15. The woofers have 4” voice coils and a power handling rating of 1200W rms and 2400W program each. The DSP features 96Khz, 24 bit processing, and provides high-pass and low-pass filtering, limiting and time alignment functions. Controls include an input attenuator and mute button. Touring options include a 4-wheel transport cart with locking casters and covers for one, two or three cabinets on a cart. Installation versions are available with 16 x 3/8” threaded flypoints, and the included amplification and processing package can be ordered in a 2-space rack chassis.

All BASSMAXX products come with the BASSMAXX “Sound Defense” warranty that covers failed drivers, including burned voice coils, for two years. If a voice coil, or any other part, fails within the warranty period, replacement parts will be provided without charge.

Highlights:
- Half the size of the SSP218 boxes
- High SPL output beats most double 18” subs
- Deep bass output comparable to double 18” subs
- Convenient shape for lifting and loading
- Truck pack dimensions for touring
- Very low profile for under stages or low ceilings

Pricing & Availability
The SSP215 Profundo Subwoofer is $5148.00 MSRP.
When sold as a powered-passive combination of two subs as the PowerBASS Pair they are $3905.00 each MSRP. Further information available at www.bassmaxx.com or by calling toll-free (855) 822-7770.

The Pro Audio Files Launches Mixing Rap Vocals Video Training

Mix Engineer Matthew Weiss Shows How To Get The Best Rap Vocal Sound Out Of Any Situation

Boulder, CO (August 12, 2013) – The Pro Audio Files, a fast growing online community where audio professionals share insightful tips, techniques, and articles about recording, mixing, and production, widens its scope by launching Mixing Rap Vocals, the first installment of a new video training and tutorial series.

The Pro Audio Files founder, Dan Comerchero, keeps a close eye on the most discussed topics in his community. He has found that many musicians, engineers and producers are seeking advice when it comes to mixing vocals, and particularly rap vocals. Comerchero worked with author and noted mix engineer Matthew Weiss to develop an in-depth tutorial about mixing rap vocals. Weiss is a true expert in this field, having worked for over 10 years with artists such as Snoop Dogg, Gorilla Zoe, Arrested Development, Dizzee Rascal, MURS, Gift of Gab, J-Son and many more.

Mixing Rap Vocals is an 80-minute downloadable video tutorial, divided into four digestible segments, taking the viewer step-by-step to better results:
- cleaning up the audio
- controlling the dynamics
- enhancing and polishing the vocal
- creating the space around the vocal with effects such as reverb and delay

In the video, Weiss shows how to get the best audio results, even from less than stellar recordings and teaches how to process vocals with EQ, compression and time-based effects, as well as how to identify and enhance key frequencies. The video also resolves the mystery of compression by elaborating on various settings and techniques particularly effective and useful for vocals in the rap genre. Included is a bonus interview with vocal coach Laura Zahn on how to produce better vocals.

Professional engineers and mixers will benefit from the clarity and efficiency of the process Weiss lays out. Beginners and intermediate mixers will find the tutorial accessible when tackling difficult subjects, and they will learn advanced techniques. Emmy Award-winning video editor and audio engineer Bill Cammack attests to that: “Matthew’s tutorials are always clear and informative. He gives in-depth explanations of the thought processes behind why he uses particular techniques, which are very useful and applicable to mixers who use digital or analog gear.”

To celebrate the launch of Mixing Rap Vocals, The Pro Audio Files invites everyone to take advantage of the introductory discount of 50% off the regular price, this week only (sale ends August 14th, 2013 – see complete details at http://mixingrapvocals.com). Additionally, Quiztones, the popular frequency ear-training app developed by Comerchero in partnership with Audiofile Engineering, is free on the iOS App Store during the same time period.

The Pro Audio Files has established itself as a trusted and reliable source of tips and advice for the pro audio industry. The Mixing Rap Vocals video tutorial reflects Comerchero’s commitment to top-quality products. Other titles and installments of the video training series are planned for future release.

Pricing & Availability:
Mixing Rap Vocals: $38 – on sale for $18 until August 14th, 2013, and available for instant download: http://mixingrapvocals.com (press kit here)

BASSMAXX Launches DiaMon DJ112: Huge Sound, Tiny Box

Self-powered monitor with amazing size to output ratio and unique design

Austin, TX (July 25, 2013)
BASSMAXX proudly announces the availability of their new, very compact and very loud DiaMon DJ112. The DiaMon DJ112 gives venues more options for speaker placement without compromising on sound. It also provides mobile DJs big system volume while keeping setup time and effort to a bare minimum.

The DiaMon DJ112 is fully self-contained and needs nothing more than power and signal to be ready to play. Despite its small size, it has the output to keep up with several subwoofers. For portable applications, it’s intended to be mounted on a pole-stand above one or more of the BASSMAXX Profundo Series subwoofers. Used with a subwoofer system, the DiaMon is a powerful main speaker, capable of remarkable clarity at very high sound levels.

An example of their extraordinary size to output ratio came when world-famous DJ Andy C. was presented with them as his monitors. On seeing their size, his comment “That’s not going to do, mate!” was quickly followed by amazement at their volume. “What have you put in those things? I don’t think we need the mains!”

The DiaMon DJ112 is a high-output, self-powered, bi-amped, co-axial monitor that features a neodymium magnet 700W 12” woofer; a 3″ voice coil, a 1.4” exit compression driver; and a 1500W amplifier with an integrated digital signal processor. The compression driver plays through the center of the woofer, making it a true point-source cabinet. Both the woofer and tweeter coils share the same magnetic structure to keep size and weight to a minimum, and the cabinet is barely bigger than the 12″ woofer. The 1500-watt class D Powersoft amplifier features built-in digital signal processing that provides crossover functions as well as a full complement of protections, limiters and equalizers that ensure accurate, consistent, and reliable operation.

An impressive example of how the DiaMon integrates elegantly into a venue’s décor while simultaneously creating an intense dance sound system can be found at AMPED in Austin, TX. AMPED, an upscale, two-story dance and live music club on Austin’s famed Sixth Street features a full BASSMAXX system install with four DiaMon DJ112s for the dance floor mains, paired with two BASSMAXX SSP218 Profundo Subwoofers. With a limited amount of space upstairs and a roof that opens to the sky, this set-up enables the club to minimize obstruction of the view while maximizing sound quality and quantity.

Not only are the size and the sound quality compelling, but the DiaMon DJ112’s unique design makes the monitor a talking point for both DJs and their audience. The angle-cut corner allows it to be placed on a table and used as a DJ monitor without pole-mounting. An adjustable wall-mount bracket is also available. Gregory Selph, Operating Partner at TREEHOUSE Miami was the first to put the DiaMon DJ112 to the test as a DJ monitor. “It’s an ultra forward design that you just don’t see in any other clubs…” he reports. “The DJs, especially the European DJs – they love it – I love it. Looks aside, if they didn’t take the beatings our system took each night then it wouldn’t matter how great they look. We have put our new DiaMon DJ112 monitors through a pretty tortuous three months test drive, and again – no disappointments.” DJ Luke Hunter experienced the performance of the DiaMonDJ12 first hand while performing at Treehouse Miami, and raved “I’m completely blown away!”

Features:
• Stunning Output-to-Size and Weight Ratio
• Elegant and Unique Design and Grill
• Bi-Amped Self-Powered with Built-In DSP
• 1500W Digital Class D Amplifier
• Point Source Co-Axial Loudspeaker Offers:
– Superior Coherence
– Excellent Off-Axis Response
– Reduction of Feedback
• Pole-Mount, Wall-Mount and Tabletop placement options

The DiaMon DJ112 is $2,953 MSRP. Further information at www.bassmaxx.com or by calling toll-free (855) 822-7770.
