NETIA Content Management System (CMS)
At BroadcastAsia2013, NETIA will showcase the latest version of its media asset management (MAM) platform, which allows users to manage all processes within the global production environment — from editing through post and distribution — through simple, easy-to-manage workflows and task automation, accessed through one unique and straightforward interface. With the NETIA CMS, users can connect all of their partners and vendors within a single production ecosystem, simplifying the sharing and managing of media assets.

Metamodel Editor
The latest version of the NETIA CMS includes new features within its metadata management module. Enriched with a new metamodel editor, this graphical tool enables the user to manage and customize the metadata model structure.

Monitoring
The new release of NETIA CMS includes a recording feature with which users can schedule specific recordings or continuous channel ingest. Video is stored in the MAM database along with corresponding transcript text files, generated by a speech-to-text engine. A new monitoring feature facilitates the searching and browsing of these recorded channel feeds, either according to a timeline or through a full-text search. Upon locating the appropriate content, the user can extract, repurpose, and export the relevant video segment.

Tieline Announces Strategic Partnership With NETIA

Partnership Includes Integration of Tieline Report-IT Enterprise With NETIA

PERTH, Western Australia — April 3, 2013 — Tieline, the Codec Company, today announced a strategic partnership with market-leading content management solution provider NETIA, which includes the integration of Report-IT Enterprise with NETIA’s software solutions for managing and broadcasting radio content. This partnership delivers improved workflows to both Tieline and NETIA customers for ingest of news content and enhanced tools for mobile journalists in the field.

Both organisations worked closely with one of their mutual customers, ABC Australia, to integrate the ingest of recorded Report-IT audio files into NETIA’s Radio-Assist(TM) using FTP sharing. Tieline has also integrated iSnippet, NETIA’s latest Radio-Assist editing tool, into Report-IT Enterprise for iPhone(R)/iPad(R).

“Clearly Tieline’s partnership with NETIA opens up an entirely new world of opportunities for mobile journalism by making it easier and faster for journalists to get their stories to air via NETIA Radio-Assist systems. Journalists now also have access to improved and streamlined report editing capabilities with the integration of NETIA’s iSnippet editing application into Report-IT Enterprise for iPhone and iPad,” said Charlie Gawley, vice president of sales, APAC/EMEA for Tieline. “For engineers and all radio news stakeholders, this will deliver improved workflows which reduce time, effort, and costs.”

The range of editing tools available within Radio-Assist automation products is now available for iOS devices. Sharing the same look and ergonomic principles as the desktop interface, the new iPhone- and iPad-compatible iSnippet tool allows field reporters and other remote users to enjoy Radio-Assist audio editing capabilities — familiar from the desktop — on their portable devices.

“As the world moves increasingly towards the use of mobile devices, we are delighted to work with Tieline to deliver broadcast solutions on portable devices to bring a new level of flexibility for news operators working remotely,” said Paul Henri Oltra, vice president and chief technology officer at NETIA.

The Report-IT Enterprise application for iPhone and iPad allows reporters and announcers to send live broadcast-quality IP audio wirelessly from any remote location to a Tieline IP codec in the studio. Report-IT can also broadcast live and record at the same time, so audio can be sent in real time to a Tieline codec in the studio, or uploaded via FTP sharing to a news server with no codec required in the studio.

Digital Alert Systems to Provide Live Demonstrations of Canadian Bilingual Emergency Alert Service at the 2013 NAB Show

LYNDONVILLE, N.Y. — April 2, 2013 — Digital Alert Systems today announced that, at the 2013 NAB Show, it will provide a live demonstration of Canada’s National Alert Aggregation and Dissemination (NAAD) System, to highlight bilingual visual and audio presentation of emergency alerts by the DASDEC(TM)-II emergency notification platform. With full support for Canada’s unique Common Alerting Protocol messaging profile (CAP-CP), the DASDEC emergency messaging platform is the first broadcast alert solution to provide comprehensive support for NAAD requirements.

Operated by Pelmorex Communications, the NAAD system provides Canadian government agencies with tools to issue public safety messages using the CAP-CP. The NAAD system validates, authenticates, and aggregates alert messages into a data stream, which it distributes over the Internet and by satellite to ensure coverage across Canada. The DASDEC-II monitors the NAAD system for alert messages and allows radio and television broadcasters to select emergency event types and the appropriate broadcast language, French or English.

During the NAB Show demonstration, the DASDEC platform and MultiPlayer(TM) EAS audio player and program switcher will receive bilingual alert messages initiated by Pelmorex and Canadian provincial officials. A simulated broadcast environment will allow the system to forward these alert messages using the highest quality English and French-Canadian text-to-speech capabilities currently available.

Live demonstrations are scheduled for 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, at booth C2644 in the Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center. Representatives from Pelmorex will be on hand to answer questions and provide a demonstration of Canadian alert origination tools. The DASDEC platform will continuously monitor the Pelmorex NAAD system for alerts from Environment Canada and other Canadian sources throughout the show.

Further information about the DASDEC emergency messaging platform is available at www.digitalalertsystems.com.

Primestream Announces Dig-IT Stand-Alone Software for Monitoring Advanced Broadcast IT Operations From Anywhere

MIAMI — March 12, 2013 — Primestream(R), a leader in advanced media asset management and broadcast automation software, today announced Dig-IT(TM), a server-based software application for broadcast, government, entertainment, and corporate IT departments that helps them monitor broadcast IT operations from anywhere. The application monitors hardware and software within single and multiple IT facilities, in addition to the FORK Production Suite — making it easy for IT administrators to manage any kind of broadcast-related IT activity. Dig-IT is designed to work seamlessly within a FORK(TM) environment or as a stand-alone solution in multiple applications.

“Our strategy is to give all kinds of broadcast operations complete control over their entire workflow,” said Claudio Lisman, Primestream president and CEO. “Before Dig-IT, system administrators had to initiate remote sessions into individual computers in order to monitor system availability and performance for media operations, which was inefficient and not very useful. Dig-IT overcomes the high latency, poor visibility, and inflexibility inherent in that method, and it also gives users alerts and analytics that help them stay on top of the entire broadcast workflow.”

The cross-platform, highly configurable Dig-IT application features centralized monitoring and an intuitive Web-based front end for easy viewing and portability.

Dig-IT allows for the following:

-The ability to monitor multiple servers, applications, file-system performance and usage from anywhere — across multiple facilities and within a single interface
-Alerts for administrators when performance hits a preset threshold or when individual system components fail
-Monitoring of essential data inside dynamic graphs to make it easy to review analytics
-The ability to monitor mission-critical servers and applications, identify performance bottlenecks, and quickly recover from system failures in order to reduce downtime and control operational costs

Primestream will demonstrate Dig-IT at the 2013 NAB Show in booth SL6824. The product will be available in the third quarter of 2013.

NETIA Products at the 2013 NAB Show:

NEW RELEASE: Radio-Assist(TM) 8.2 Automation Solution
NETIA is unveiling version 8.2 of the company’s Radio-Assist(TM) digital audio software suite at the 2013 NAB Show. This latest release of NETIA’s flagship software boasts three powerful enhancements, all of which will be showcased throughout the show.

Cloud Management
The introduction of cloud-based management for Radio-Assist(TM) gives users the ability to access the system database from any network-connected workstation. Particularly valuable for multisite radio broadcasters, this capability enables authorized users everywhere to access, retrieve, and work on the same content, without the need for time-consuming media transfers. In addition to enabling faster, more productive operations through shared media access, cloud-based management enables broadcasters to reduce reliance on server infrastructure and, in turn, lower the total cost of ownership.

By storing content in the cloud, Radio-Assist can serve as an online production database or as online content archive. Radio-Assist archiving tools enable seamless management of the archive/restoration process in the cloud. Users can simply trigger the archiving process as a background task and subsequently use simple search requests to retrieve content. In disaster recovery situations, the content stored in the cloud by Radio-Assist can help to ensure continuity of service even when ground-based facilities are compromised.

iSnippet Audio Editing Tool for iPhone(R) and iPad(R)
The Snippet range of editing tools available within the Radio-Assist(TM) automation products is now available for iOS devices. Sharing the same look and ergonomic principles as the Snippet desktop interface, the new iPhone(R)- and iPad(R)-compatible iSnippet tool allows field reporters and other remote users to enjoy the Radio-Assist audio editing capabilities — familiar from the desktop — on their portable devices.

Teleprompter
The new teleprompter module for the Radio-Assist(TM) suite gives presenters and journalists convenient visual access to news scripts, which scroll continuously across the presenter’s screen, linked with the playout system in the studio. Customizable features such as text size, color selection, automatic speed control that adapts to reading speed, and read length may be configured in user profiles tailored to presenter preferences.

NUGEN Audio at the 2013 NAB Show

At the 2013 NAB Show, NUGEN Audio will be displaying a range of industry-leading innovations for loudness correction that offer a smarter approach to meeting new loudness regulations and raising the quality of broadcast audio.

NEW — LM-Correct: Stand-Alone Loudness Tool
For the first time, LM-Correct is available as a file-based program, taking its speed and simplicity outside the Avid(R) environment. LM-Correct is designed to offer automatic, faster-than-real-time loudness analysis and correction.

LM-Correct is ideal for rapid, intuitive correction in situations where time is limited, providing an automatic method of rapidly conforming audio to current loudness standards. LM-Correct can be used as a one-stop solution for loudness correction, fixing audio that has not been mixed with loudness standards in mind, or in conjunction with a real-time loudness meter such as VisLM to “fine tune” audio mixed to loudness requirements from the outset. LM-Correct can also be used as a final “back-stop” processor, ensuring that finished files are within specification and performing a fix where errors are found.

NEW — VisLM v1.6: Visual Loudness Metering Plug-In Now Available in Avid(R) AAX Format and 64-Bit OS X(R)
NUGEN Audio is now offering VisLM 1.6, a significant update to its visual loudness monitoring tool. With this new version, VisLM is available for the first time in the Avid(R) AAX format. Additionally, VisLM is now available in a 64-bit OS X(R) version.

VisLM 1.6 also includes a new dialog gate option that allows automatic measurement of dialog sections within the source material. Measurements can now be written to automation tracks so that elements such as the loudness profile and true-peak clips can be seen against the waveform in the digital audio workstation timeline for diagnostic referencing.

With detailed, objective loudness measurement, history, and logging facilities, VisLM provides an easy-to-use ITU, ATSC and EBU standard-compliant way to measure, compare, and contrast loudness during production, broadcast, and post production, either on the fly or for entire sections of audio. Offering true-peak level metering (inter-sample accurate level monitoring), loudness range (to help decide if and how much dynamic compression to apply), momentary “instantaneous loudness” for mixing by ear, short-term loudness (three-second time window) and program loudness (long-term integrated loudness measurement), VisLM is a comprehensive tool that helps audio professionals cut through the complexity of loudness compliance.

VisLM is available in two versions, VisLM-C (compact) and VisLM-H (history). Both versions are available in 2.0 and 5.1 formats.

Photo Link: www.wallstcom.com/NUGEN/VisLM-H.zip
Photo Caption: Visual Loudness Metering (History)

ISL: Inter-Sample True-Peak Limiter
The NUGEN Audio ISL Inter-Sample True-Peak Limiter is designed for the control of peak levels in audio signals from mono to 5.1. Unlike traditional approaches to limiting, ISL offers a true brick-wall solution, measuring inter-sample peaks and allowing the user to define the true-peak limit of the audio output (rather than the more traditional threshold control at which limiting begins to take effect).

Easy to use and totally transparent, ISL is based on the standardized true-peak algorithms of ITU-R B.S. 1770 and related standards, and is suitable for the control of audio for post-production and broadcast applications. True-peak limiting can also be used to ensure that downstream codecs such as mp3, AAC, etc. do not introduce distortion into the signal. While ISL is designed for limiting relatively dynamic high-quality audio, it can also be used to hard limit and reduce dynamic range considerably if required.

Photo Caption: ISL 5.1 True-Peak Limiter

LMB: Batch Processing Loudness Correction Tool for High Throughput Applications
The NUGEN Audio LMB system is an off-line, file-based loudness analysis and correction program designed for rapid assessment and correction of files for loudness and true-peak content to ITU-R BS. 1770- and EBU R128-based specifications.

With a drag-and-drop interface and/or specific watched folders, LMB saves operator time by automatically handling the process of checking and conforming files to multiple broadcast criteria. LMB produces detailed post-mortem logs and includes a built-in graphing facility. LMB can be fully integrated into an automated system using the optional command-line interface and XML file output logs.
