ZeeVee Product Line Update Enables Interoperability With Monroe Electronics’ One-Net SE EAS System

LYNDONVILLE, N.Y., and LITTLETON, Mass. — March 10, 2014 — Monroe Electronics today announced that ZeeVee, the industry’s leading manufacturer of digital HD video encoder/modulators, is offering an update that makes Emergency Alert System (EAS) capability available across its ZvPro and HDbridge 2000 series at no additional cost. The new update enables ZeeVee’s competitively priced systems to interface with the Monroe One-Net(TM) SE EAS- and Common Alerting Protocol (CAP)-ready encoder/decoder via Monroe’s unique EAS-NET(TM) protocol.

“Adding EAS continues our tradition of providing ongoing functionality improvements across all ZeeVee models, and it is especially satisfying to be able to offer an upgrade of this magnitude for no additional charge,” said ZeeVee CEO Bob Michaels. “Protection of lives is a significant priority for our customers — and one they shouldn’t have to pay extra for in a state-of-the art-video distribution system.”

ZeeVee not only boasts a unique watermarking technology, but also offers the only Clear-QAM solution approved by both DirecTV and Dish Network. The company has once again set the industry standard by including EAS as a standard feature of its encoder/modulators. Within the streamlined EAS workflow supported by this feature, the Monroe One-Net SE system receives emergency alert information, and then processes and transmits the proper EAS information to the ZeeVee encoder/modulators. From there the encoder/modulator broadcasts that alert to all televisions being served. A properly authorized operator can also generate custom alert messages with Monroe’s custom message option.

“Using our One-Net SE/EAS-NET combination along with ZeeVee products, cable operators and campus television stations can implement industry-leading EAS technology simply and at a very attractive price point,” said Bill Robertson, vice president of business development at Monroe Electronics. “Our exclusive EAS-NET communications suite serves as the key interfacing mechanism between these systems, assuring reliable EAS data and audio transmission over a standard TCP/IP network.”

With a wide range of EAS/CAP and A/V products, Monroe is the recognized leader in EAS/CAP equipment for the campus and cable television marketplace. The Monroe One-Net SE is designed as a flexible emergency-messaging platform able to handle all EAS/CAP and custom alert messaging and keep pace with an ever-changing communication environment. With a standard Web-based user interface, the One-Net SE communicates via a network with a variety of digital devices. The system itself can be accessed via an intranet/Internet connection for monitoring or message uploads.

Wohler MPEG Series Video Monitor Line Is Among First Products to Earn NewBay Media Product Innovation Award

SAN FRANCISCO — Nov. 18, 2013 — Wohler Technologies today announced that its MPEG Series video monitor line has earned a 2013 NewBay Media Product Innovation Award honoring outstanding product introductions that serve TV, professional video, and broadcast/online radio. This was the inaugural year for the award, and winners were selected by a panel of professional users. Evaluation criteria included innovation of concept and design, creative use of technology, price value, and suitability for use in a broadcast TV/radio or professional video environment.

“The ability to decode and analyze both MPEG-2 and MPEG-4/H.264 streams in a single compact unit is a dramatic step forward for video monitoring, and we’re pleased that the award panel understood the value this capability brings to today’s broadcast operations,” said Carl J. Dempsey, president and CEO of Wohler. “As facilities began working with MPEG transport streams for content delivery, monitoring staff typically turned to a PC-based server to analyze those inputs. Now, however, our MPEG Series monitors offer a far more efficient and cost-effective alternative for monitoring various video signals in a wide array of formats.”

Wohler Technologies’ MPEG Series of multiscreen broadcast-quality MPEG video monitors represents the first universal digital broadcast confidence monitor line in the broadcast industry. Available in a variety of multiscreen configurations, products in the MPEG video monitor line are capable of decoding and displaying MPEG-2- and MPEG-4-based content via ASI and IPTV transport streams; supporting dual-input 3G/HD with loop-through; and accommodating HDMI video — all with audio level meters, GPI, and tally.

With the MPEG monitor series, a single operator can monitor all video streams, even those destined for delivery via Web portals and mobile services, from a single system and interface. The consolidation of MPEG-2 and MPEG-4/H.264 streams into the mainstream workflow further reduces the cost and complexity of handling the various streams processed and distributed by today’s broadcast and production facilities.

More information about the MPEG Series video monitor line and the full Wohler product family is available at www.wohler.com.

NETIA MAM Solution Grows Even More Powerful With Integration of MediaSpeech Speech-to-Text Engine

CLARET, France — Nov. 7, 2013 — NETIA today announced a partnership with Vecsys, a leader in the speech-to-text market, through which the latter company’s MediaSpeech(R) “speech2text” engine will be integrated into the NETIA MAM (media asset management) solution to make full-text transcription and search capabilities available alongside video in the MAM interface. This new capability enables the automated transcription of audio tracks accompanying any ingested video as well as greater control over indexing, enriching, storing, retrieving, and monetizing A/V content.

“By converting audio tracks into searchable transcriptions, the MediaSpeech engine not only supports faster and more effective content searches, but also enables more comprehensive extraction of metadata and more extensive automated indexing,” said Paul Henri Oltra, vice president and CTO at NETIA. “These benefits are significant individually, and together they yield a tremendous boost in the efficiency with which users can find and use the content they want or need.”

“Vecsys is very excited about this partnership with NETIA,” said Béatrice Bacconnet, Vecsys CEO. “Video and audio productions are extremely precious assets, but they are often underutilized because traditional searches are blind to their true content. The combination of the NETIA MAM with our Vecsys MediaSpeech speech-to-text solution is cracking the code to deep audio and video content management; it’s opening a range of new possibilities for producers, broadcasters, journalists, and analysts, as well as the public at large.”

The incorporation of proven MediaSpeech technology into the NETIA MAM makes it even easier for media companies to deliver content according to their customers’ demands. From ingest to distribution in applications ranging from media logging to production, postproduction, and archiving, NETIA MAM users can very simply access, search, browse, and retrieve content through a single interface tailored to their work.

CLARET, France — July 30, 2013 — NETIA today announced that Sudan Radio has upgraded its operations to the Radio-Assist(TM) 8.1 range of digital audio automation software. Sudan Radio first launched Radio-Assist in 2005, after working closely with NETIA to migrate its tape-based archives to digital. With this upgrade to version 8.1, the North African broadcaster will take advantage of the NETIA solution’s newly enhanced tools for broadcasting, editing, and music scheduling.

“We chose to upgrade our current NETIA installation not only because we wish to remain at the forefront of new broadcast technology, but also because we have found the company’s Radio-Assist software to be a reliable and efficient system,” said Hassan Mostafa, IT and digital archive manager at Sudan Radio. “Staff members across Sudan Radio are already familiar with this NETIA solution, so it will take them very little time to get a grip on the new functionalities offered by the latest software release.”

NETIA’s Radio-Assist family of digital audio software programs covers each part of the production and broadcast workflow, allowing users to record, edit, or prepare a playlist. In addition to new browse and publishing tools for full multimedia functionality, the software features tools for acquisition, sound-file editing, commercial and music production, newsroom systems, scheduling, multicasting, and administration.

With music management tools integrated into the software’s Feder-All playlist preparation module, users will be able to automate playlist generation according to preset criteria, business policies, and a wide range of intelligent options for sequencing music.

To ensure a smooth transition to the new software release, NETIA has trained Sudan Radio’s 40 Radio-Assist users on the solution’s enhanced AIR DDO broadcasting module.

“Sudan Radio is a longstanding NETIA client, and we share a history of collaboration in establishing highly efficient radio broadcast workflows,” said Marc Bawol, MEA sales manager at NETIA. “We’re pleased that through this relationship, we have been able to introduce further efficiencies in bringing Sudan Radio programming to air.”
