NETIA and First Gulf Extend Radio-Assist(TM) Installation at Radio Riyadh to Three Regional Sites

New NETIA Workstations at Jizan, Hail, and Tabuk Enable Easy Media Exchange With Central Riyadh Station

CLARET, France — July 12, 2012 — NETIA today announced that it is working with systems integrator First Gulf to extend the Radio-Assist(TM) 8 suite of digital audio software at Radio Riyadh to include three regional stations in Saudi Arabia, located in the cities of Jizan, Hail, and Tabuk. Part of a larger multi-year national media infrastructure project overseen by the Saudi Ministry of Culture and Information (MOCI), the extension of Radio-Assist brings more sophisticated production tools to the three stations and simplifies their exchange of media with the kingdom’s central Radio Riyadh station. NETIA technology already plays a key role in the restoration, digitization, and preservation of audiovisual media of cultural and historical importance in Saudi Arabia.

“We are proud to be working with NETIA to extend state-of-the-art production and broadcast capabilities to regional stations and to facilitate and streamline the exchange of content between the country’s radio broadcasters,” said Naim G. Saidi, CEO of First Gulf Company.

The Radio-Assist 8 range of digital audio software programs covers the entire operation of a radio station, addressing acquisition, sound file editing, commercial and music production, scheduling, multicasting, data security, and administration. The installation of Radio-Assist at Jizan, Hail, and Tabuk ensures the interoperability of media management systems across broadcast stations and provides the foundation for shared access to the extensive national archives being created by MOCI.

“Saudi Arabia is undertaking an ambitious upgrade to its national media infrastructure, and we’re pleased to be a part of this project,” said Thomas Dresch, project manager at NETIA. “With this latest NETIA installation, key radio stations across the country have been able improve their local production capabilities while taking much greater advantage of resources and programming at Radio Riyadh.”

Singapore’s MediaCorp Harmonizes Production With NETIA’s Radio-Assist 8

Tight Integration With ENPS and Wider Access to Production Tools Boosts Productivity and Program Quality

CLARET, France — June 12, 2012 — NETIA, a leading manufacturer of media asset management and radio automation software, today announced that Singapore’s largest broadcaster, MediaCorp, has installed NETIA’s Radio-Assist(TM) 8 at the heart of its radio production system. MediaCorp runs 13 free-to-air radio channels, broadcasting in 10 languages to Singapore’s cosmopolitan audiences.

Installed and integrated in collaboration with BCI, NETIA’s principal dealer in Southeast Asia, MediaCorp’s Radio-Assist system automates the radio production chain from ingest to delivery, and equips the broadcaster’s newsroom with the tools to record, schedule, and edit, with simultaneous access for up to 50 journalists.

Radio-Assist 8, tightly integrated via a MOS Protocol to MediaCorp’s ENPS newsroom system, provides added value by making content intuitively accessible to all of the broadcaster’s production staff. Radio-Assist modules for browsing, multitrack editing, and audio playback can be opened from within the ENPS interface, and any changes made in the ENPS rundown are automatically duplicated in the Radio-Assist broadcasting tool Air-DDO, even if the program is already on the air. Offering a further productivity benefit, the Radio-Assist 8 user interface supports all languages spoken by MediaCorp’s multilingual staff.

“The ability to integrate so tightly with the ENPS system, together with the big advantage of the multi-language operating environment, means that Radio-Assist 8 delivers real savings in time and costs for MediaCorp, as well as allowing the broadcaster to provide a higher quality service to its audiences,” said Mus Rezzoug at NETIA.

NETIA’s Radio-Assist family of digital audio software programs covers each part of the production and broadcast workflow, allowing users to record, edit, or prepare a playlist. In addition to new browse and publishing tools for full multimedia functionality, the software features tools for acquisition, sound-file editing, commercial and music production, newsroom systems, scheduling, multicasting, and administration.

Sistema Globo de Radio Installs NETIA Radio-Assist(TM) 8 to Streamline News Production Across Its Four Largest Brazilian Stations

CLARET, France — May 2, 2012 — NETIA, a leading software manufacturer of media asset management and radio automation solutions, today announced that Sistema Globo de Radio – SGR is installing the Radio-Assist(TM) 8 suite of digital audio automation software across its facilities in Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Brasilia, and Belo Horizonte to simplify and streamline radio production operations from end to end.

“We needed a software solution that would enable us to schedule and play out programming from studios, exchange content among multiple sites, and archive content — all while interfacing with existing systems in a very heterogeneous environment,” said Marco Tulio Nascimento, technology manager for SGR. “NETIA’s Radio-Assist 8 offered us all of these capabilities, integrating smoothly into our operations to support staff throughout the production and playout workflow.”

The four SGR sites at which Radio-Assist 8 is being installed are responsible for the broadcast of programs on Radio Globo (talk show), Globo FM (Web), Beat98 (pop music), BH FM (pop music), and CBN (all news), a network of stations that reaches more than 30 cities across Brazil. Integrated with SGR’s existing iNEWS newsroom system through a MOS protocol, Radio-Assist 8 will make it simple for journalists to work on a story, incorporating any news from Avid software, rewriting it, adding sound from the Radio-Assist 8 database, and then organizing the content to be broadcast.

All four sites will be interconnected, with the ability to share content. As a result, journalists working simultaneously can exchange media in a more collaborative production process. Across SGR operations, 250 workstations will be equipped with the NETIA Radio-Assist 8 software. The software has been adapted by NETIA to meet SGR’s cultural and linguistic requirements with a special focus on customizing the database structure. The Radio-Assist 8 GUI has been translated into Portuguese, and local training for staff in Brazil also is in Portuguese.

“Sistema Globo de Radio is among Latin America’s leading broadcasters, and the company’s installation of the Radio-Assist 8 suite marks a significant step for us in Brazil and the region as a whole,” said Stéphane Lefebvre, NETIA sales manager for Latin America. “Upon completion of this installation, SGR will be able to leverage all of its resources far more effectively in bringing quality programming to listeners.”
