WTLW-TV Modernizes With Myers

WESTERN OHIO’S CHRISTIAN TELEVISION INSTALLS PROTRACK TV FOR SALES & TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT

Northampton, MA – Myers Information Systems – a long-standing developer of broadcast traffic, business, and content management software – today announced a successful integration of the company’s flagship ProTrack TV product for Lima, OH-based Christian broadcaster WTLW-TV. The Myers suite also provides support to the West Ohio Sports Net (WOSN), an affiliated community outreach sports channel.

“Our previous traffic software was installed in 1992,” said WTLW/WOSN traffic manager Kelli Getz. “We needed to upgrade [and] researched several companies, finally narrowing it down to Myers and one other. After going through the ProTrack demo, we felt Myers was the right one for our needs, not only because of their software – including the daily server back-up option so we can remain operational in the event of a catastrophe – but also Myers’ reliability and 24-hour tech support.” On-site training meant extra long days for station staff, “but it was well worth it … all our questions were answered and the material was presented in an understandable manner; with ProTrack, we’ll get better, more timely sales reports so our people can use their time more effectively.”

“We are extremely pleased to welcome WTLW and WOSN to our growing client family,” said Crist Myers, company CEO and president. “ProTrack’s features and functionality are well suited to manage broadcast content and business workflows, whether for a public, religious or commercial station.”

Myers’ highly regarded flagship suite, ProTrack, is available in both radio and television editions. It offers comprehensive scheduling and business management for individual, multichannel and multi-station facilities. Actively used by more than 226 media outlets, supporting more than 1,300 channels, ProTrack provides a high-level of structure and scalability, without sacrificing flexibility, for today’s rapidly evolving media environments.

Myers Installs 50th ProTrack MAM System at KOCE-TV

STATION PROVIDES PBS TO THE GREATER LOS ANGELES MARKET

Northampton, MA – Myers Information Systems – a long-standing developer of broadcast traffic, business, and content management software – today announced the successful commissioning of a milestone 50th Media Asset Management (MAM) module for the Company’s flagship ProTrack TV at Southern California’s KOCE-TV. The station – branded as “PBS SoCaL” – offers a full schedule of PBS and local interest programming to viewers in the Greater Los Angeles area.

“Myers was an easy choice: it saves us money and maintenance time, plus it integrates well within our highly automated master control infrastructure,” said director of engineering & technology Gordon Smith. “ProTrack MAM is easy-to-expand and uses standard, rather than proprietary archive file structures; it’s an integral part of Myers’ traffic environment and it ‘plays well’ with our Avid Automation, plus it costs us just a third of the previous system’s license and support fees.”

“We’re extremely pleased at how rapidly our MAM solution’s been adopted, as evidenced by this 50th installation,” said Crist Myers, company CEO and president. “Adding MAM to their existing ProTrack configuration helped KOCE tackle the challenges of becoming Los Angeles’s primary PBS station last year; it lets them repurpose content and automate file-based transfers between archive and playout servers based on the actual ProTrack schedule.” The solution provides real-time insight to scheduling, noting whether content is in-house, within rights to be aired, and compliant with predefined business rules; it helps clear the on-air server with purge orders after confirming a copy is securely in archive. “And ProTrack MAM works equally well with existing middleware solutions or as a standalone within a spinning disk environment,” added Myers.

PBS Guam Installs Myers ProTrack TV

Northampton, MA – Myers Information Systems – a long-standing developer of broadcast traffic, business, and content management software – today announced a successful installation of the Company’s flagship ProTrack TV suite at KGTF, a PBS affiliate serving the U.S. Territory of Guam. The station, on-air since 1970, made the leap from manual, paper-centric scheduling and asset management to a software-based system that’s fully BXF integrated with on-air automation.

“We’re a small station, far away – both in distance and time zones – from everyday technical support, so we took the time to thoroughly research and evaluate alternatives before choosing our traffic and automation companies,” said general manager Cathy Gogue. “Because Myers understands PBS, they were able to scale ProTrack to suit our staff, workflow and budget. The Myers team went ‘above and beyond’ in coordinating with vendors to ensure the new hardware and software would work together; their on-site engineer checked everything out, conducted hands-on training and patiently answered numerous questions. Traffic is adjusting to the new workflow and Master Control has more time now to monitor the on-air product – viewers have noticed and commented on our improved quality.”

“We’re extremely pleased to welcome PBS Guam to our steadily growing family of satisfied ProTrack users,” said Crist Myers, company CEO and president. “Every station’s circumstances and needs are unique, even among PBS affiliates; we strive to make our software compatible with the facility’s workflow, not the other way around.”
