CABSAT 2015 Product Preview
NETIA
Exhibiting With Globecast in Hall 7, Stand C7-20
March 10-12, Dubai

At CABSAT 2015, NETIA will showcase its new Media Assist software suite, which builds on the strengths of the company’s acclaimed product portfolio to provide a complete solution for managing workflows from ingest through to delivery. The company will demonstrate how the new suite enables content owners and content producers — from radio broadcasters and television stations to organizations maintaining media archives — to access, retrieve, and share or distribute their digital assets or media to any platform.

NEW NETIA Media Assist Software Suite
The NETIA Media Assist software suite unites the unique functionality of NETIA’s proven radio broadcast automation and media management products with a SQL database to provide a robust multimedia asset management system with a full complement of production tools. With this powerful new solution, users can manage all types of content, in any format, on any platform, from anywhere and at any time. The software suite also makes it easier for users to move media among different sites.

To enable convenient use across a facility or organization, the Media Assist software suite provides both a rich-client platform and a Web-based interface that can be displayed in a simple Internet browser. Both GUIs have been designed to assure effective ergonomics. The option of working through a browser-based interface allows journalists and reporters to go fully mobile while maintaining their ability to access, search, edit, and repurpose content. In fact, NETIA has already released Media Assist modules engineered for smartphones and tablets, and the company will provide demonstrations of the modules’ functionality throughout the show.

Media Assist is based on a service-oriented architecture, offering all of the additional advantages of a client-server computing model. Key benefits to operations include increased modularity, optimal scalability through the improvement or addition of services, third-party connectivity through a Web services API, and straightforward, cost-effective maintenance.

Digigram at BES EXPO 2015

Digigram
BES EXPO 2015
Exhibiting with Technomedia Solutions on Stand 66 (IP Audio) and AVF on Stand 73 (Sound Cards)
Jan. 15-17, New Delhi

At BES EXPO 2015, the Digigram team will highlight a complete range of products designed to address the performance and cost requirements of all IP audio applications. In showcasing solutions that simplify the capture and delivery of high-quality audio over IP networks, the company will feature the low-cost, ultra-low-latency IQOYA *CALL and IQOYA *CALL/LE audio-over-IP contribution codecs; the IQOYA *LINK and IQOYA *LINK/LE stereo audio-over-IP distribution codecs; and the high-density IQOYA *SERV/LINK multiple-stereo or multichannel audio-over-IP codec for professional IP audio distribution. As a preeminent provider of professional-grade sound cards, Digigram will show its popular VX, LoLa, and LX series sound cards, including the new low-latency, high-density LX-MADI PCIe(R) sound card and LX-IP RAVENNA PCIe sound card with a MADI option. For reporters on the go, Digigram also will demonstrate the ultra-robust Cancun USB card, which enables native USB Audio 2.0 streaming, mixing, and processing in a stylish casing.

Audio-Over-IP Distribution Range

IQOYA *SERV/LINK Multiple-Stereo or Multichannel Audio-Over-IP Codec for Professional IP Audio Distribution
Digigram’s IQOYA *SERV/LINK incorporates multiple distribution codec instances and the company’s advanced FluidIP(TM) technology on a single processing hardware platform to simplify the transport of multiple audio programs (mono, stereo, multichannel) over IP networks in a high-density format. Designed for radio broadcasting and for intercom and commentary for both radio and TV, the IQOYA *SERV/LINK codec allows users to configure multiple-stereo or multichannel solutions for links between studios and between the studio and transmitters, DVB operators, or content delivery networks. In its compact 1-RU version, the solution can handle up to eight stereo analog channels, 16 stereo AES/EBU channels, 32 stereo MADI channels, or multichannel LAN IP audio interfaces (Livewire and RAVENNA), and up to 64 codecs with multiple GPIOs and RS232 ports for auxiliary data tunneling. The scalability of the system allows users to mix and expand the supported audio I/Os, and a larger 4-RU version provides even higher channel density. The solution supports analog, AES, MADI, Livewire, or RAVENNA audio connectivity and multiple audio codecs (PCM, MPEG L2 and L3, AAC, apt-X), and is one of the industry’s few audio-over-IP codecs that can simultaneously stream raw RTP, HTTP, and MPEG-TS/IP streams.

IQOYA *LINK and IQOYA *LINK/LE Audio-Over-IP Codecs
The IQOYA *LINK and IQOYA *LINK/LE codecs are full-duplex encoding and decoding solutions that provide uncompromising performance for IP-based studio-to-studio and studio-to-transmitter links, as well as audio program delivery to DVB operators. Developed in collaboration with major European telcos, the IQOYA *LINK/LE codec is a cost-effective version of Digigram’s full-featured IQOYA *LINK codec that gives broadcasters the benefit of 24/7 reliability, audio format flexibility, ease of use, and affordability. Based on FluidIP(TM) technology, the smart IP audio streaming engine developed by Digigram, both IQOYA *LINK and IQOYA *LINK/LE boast high, field-proven mean time between failures (MTBF), very low back-to-back latency, and a host of state-of-the-art features that guarantee audio quality and continuity. With audio synchronization based on Network Time Protocol (NTP), these Digigram solutions enable operators to provide a seamless listening experience for users on the go — even as they move among the contiguous transmitters used in a multifrequency network. An intuitive Web-based user interface simplifies configuration, control, and monitoring and gives users access to real-time metrics on the network.

Audio-Over-IP Contribution Range

IQOYA *CALL and IQOYA *CALL/LE Audio-Over-IP Codec for Professional IP Audio Contribution
Digigram will highlight IQOYA *CALL and IQOYA *CALL/LE codecs, which allow users to build reliable low-latency IP audio contribution links while keeping costs under control. These codecs are utilized by Digigram’s Mobile Studio and Ultra Mobility solutions, which bring professional quality to full-duplex connections between a remote site and a studio.

IQOYA *CALL protects the investment of broadcast institutions within large fleets of heterogeneous ACIP EBU Tech 3326-compatible equipment managed by SIP infrastructure. Its front panel enables simple and straightforward usage in all outside broadcast situations.

IQOYA *CALL/LE is a cost-effective and versatile addition to the IQOYA range of IP codecs. It easily provides full-duplex IP audio sessions over the Internet and wireless connections thanks to its smart signaling and hassle-free symmetric RTP connection mode.

As with all IQOYA family members, IQOYA *CALL and IQOYA *CALL/LE codecs share the benefits of Digigram’s FluidIP(TM) IP audio streaming engine, including smart jitter, packet loss and drift management; quality of service optimization; end-to-end dual-stream redundancy; and stable ultralow latency.

Morocco’s Atlantic FM Upgrades to NETIA’s Radio-Assist 8.2

CLARET, France — Dec. 3, 2014 — NETIA today announced that Moroccan radio group Atlantic FM, part of the Eco-Medias Group, has upgraded to version 8.2 of NETIA’s Radio-Assist(TM) digital audio software suite. Bringing Atlantic FM to the forefront of audio technology, the installation provides the foundation for a complete shift to digital broadcasting while enabling operators to take advantage of the familiar functionality and interfaces they know from the initial Radio-Assist system deployed in 2006.

“Radio-Assist offers an extensive range of features critical to the operation of a modern broadcast station,” said Rachid Mounaouar, technical director at Atlantic FM. “Given this robust functionality and the familiarity of our operators with the NETIA software, the upgrade to version 8.2 was an easy and logical decision. Also, as we move forward with our migration to digital operations, the NETIA software will support a fluid transition.”

Founded in 2006, Atlantic FM today is the Moroccan economic news leader. To keep its number-one position, the radio station needs a robust and reliable system such as NETIA’s radio automation solution. The software is a complete solution that covers the entire distribution channel from ingest to distribution, and Atlantic FM relies on the software in areas including news, commercials, and music scheduling.

The new Radio-Assist 8.2 installation at Atlantic FM’s Casablanca facilities comprises more than 32 workstations for editing, planning, and recording. Operators use NETIA’s broadcast module for production and distribution. New features introduced in Radio-Assist 8.2 include cloud-based management, giving users the ability to access the system database from any network-connected workstation.

“The new installation at Atlantic FM demonstrates not only the continued strength of our Radio-Assist software suite in the MEA area, but also the value that broadcasters see in the significantly extended feature set of version 8.2,” Jean-Michel Bombois, operations project manager at NETIA. “Ever since the original Radio-Assist in 2006, we have worked closely with Atlantic FM to support its evolution — particularly its transition to digital — and its leadership as a foremost news source in Morocco.”

All India Radio Takes New NETIA Radio-Assist Software Live at New Delhi Headquarters and 48 Stations Across India

CLARET, France — Nov. 18, 2014 — NETIA today announced that All India Radio (AIR), the national radio broadcaster of India and a division of Prasar Bharati group, has taken its new Radio-Assist(TM) digital audio software suite live on more than 1,300 workstations to support its national broadcast facility and 48 local stations. Through this installation, coordinated by Delhi-based systems integrator Progressive Infotech, NETIA software has effectively been deployed in every major city across India, enabling AIR to tailor and deliver informative, educational, and entertaining programming to listeners throughout the country.

“The work performed by Progressive Infotech and NETIA ensured that the Radio-Assist deployment met the demanding requirements of geographically distributed operations, as well as the challenges of providing content that engages AIR listeners across a large and diverse audience,” said Gulshan Kharbanda, chief technology officer at Progressive Infotech. “We believe this project represented a significant improvement in AIR’s production and broadcast capabilities, and we are confident that they can build on these capabilities to enrich the on-air product for their many listeners.”

AIR, the sister service to national television broadcaster Doordarshan, is one of the world’s largest radio networks with respect to the number of broadcast languages it offers and the socio-economic and cultural diversity of its audience. The broadcaster’s home service comprises 277 stations located across the country, reaching nearly 92 percent of the country’s area and 99 percent of the total population. At AIR headquarters in New Delhi, the NETIA Radio-Assist deployment streamlines the broadcaster production and customization of services to address the language and culture of each listening area.

Radio-Assist covers each part of the production and broadcast workflow, allowing users across AIR stations to record, edit, or prepare a playlist. In addition to browse and publishing tools for full multimedia functionality, the software features tools for acquisition, archiving, audio editing, commercial and music production, newsroom systems, scheduling, broadcasting, and administration. Thanks to its Unicode compatibility, the NETIA software makes it easier for AIR to broadcast its programming in over 20 different languages and numerous dialects.

NETIA worked closely with Progressive Infotech throughout the project, providing training and support, as well as on-the-ground assistance at critical sites in Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata.

“The size of this Radio-Assist implementation is truly remarkable, and it demonstrates the extent to which NETIA software can scale in supporting highly efficient radio production and broadcasting, despite the challenges of multilingual broadcasting across a massive geographic area,” said Benjamin Schvent, head of Asia-Pacific operations at NETIA. “The system running live now at AIR is an excellent model of the modern large-scale radio broadcasting operation.”

Media Group International Installs VidiGo’s Visual Radio Solution at Clouds FM

Leading Media Systems Integrator Media Group International has assisted Tanzania’s Clouds FM radio station to give its audience a totally new, interactive experience by installing VidiGo Visual Radio software. The new software will go live on air at Clouds FM within the next few weeks.

The Clouds FM project is the first major radio installation MGI and VidiGo have completed in Africa since meeting at CABSAT 2012 and subsequently forging a partnership. The two companies are now working together to give MGI’s television and radio customers much greater access to VidiGo’s revolutionary range of broadcast software products.
VidiGo Visual Radio was the ideal solution for Clouds FM, one of four stations operated by Tanzania’s Clouds Media Group. Affectionately referred to as The People’s Station, Clouds FM is annually rated the number one station in Tanzania for the youth segment.

MGI’s Sales Director Paul Wallis, who brokered the Clouds FM deal in conjunction with Sales Assistant Diana Velikova, says: “Thanks to its strong reputation for delivering trendsetting programming, dynamic presenters and innovative promotions, Clouds FM is widely regarded as the ‘coolest’ radio station in Tanzania by the country’s 18 to 35 year olds. Given this demographic, the station wanted to incorporate interactive graphics that could be overlaid onto the video feed of its radio broadcasts and used to enhance its internet presence and Twitter, RSS and social media feeds. Diana and I felt that VidiGo Visual Radio was ideal for Clouds FM because it will be able to deliver all the elements station staff need in a very simple to use and intuitive package.”

VidiGo Virtual Radio combines the strength of VidiGo Live and VidiGo Audio Director. VidiGo Live is a full blown software solution for multi-camera TV production. The VidiGo Audio Director is an intelligent extension to VidiGo Live that makes automatic decisions by analyzing audio signals with its advanced algorithms, allowing it to make decisions like a real television director. Finally, the graphics and text overlays are automatically inserted within VidiGo Live, which makes it possible to superimpose content in a live situation using a station’s own designed Flash application.

Joseph Cusago, Managing Director, Clouds Media Group, says: “We are really thrilled with the workflow VidiGo Virtual Radio has provided and our audiences will love the fact that we will soon offer an interactive visual radio experience via the internet and social media feeds. The system is incredibly easy to operate and, because the cameras are switched automatically on the basis of which microphone input is being used, there is very little for our presenters to do. This means they can concentrate on the job of presenting, leaving VidiGo’s clever software to take care of everything else.”

VidiGo CCO Reinout Lempers adds: “With VidiGo’s background in radio, we understand the culture and needs of a radio station. We knew from the start that we shouldn’t bother radio presenters with creating video. That’s why we developed an automated software workflow that is fully compatible with existing radio workflows. With our solution presenters to do what they are good at, which is making radio, while VidiGo’s automated workflow creates an entire TV show, just like a real director would.”

Myers’ ProTrack Broadcast Management Suite Awarded Pick Hit Award at NAB 2013

Las Vegas, NV – Myers – a leading developer of broadcast traffic, business, and content management software – was a winner in more ways than one at NAB 2013 in Las Vegas. The Company’s ProTrack broadcast management suite was recognized for innovation with a Pick Hit from Broadcast Engineering – one of only 33 presented, and the Booth received an ACE (Awesome Cool Exhibit) Honorable Mention by NAB for its design and execution.

Broadcast Engineering’s Pick Hits are amongst the most prestigious technical awards given at NAB. A panel of independent judges toured the show floor for three days, looking for innovative products and technology. The judges then met to make their selections based on several criteria, including the technical and financial improvements the product can bring to a facility’s operation. The magazine’s editors and publishers have no vote in the selection process.

ProTrack, Myers’ flagship suite, a comprehensive, expandable and affordable broadcast management solution, was acknowledged for its ability to optimize workflow by interconnecting Traffic, Scheduling, Sales, Engineering and IT departments. ProTrack serves as the centralized unifying element, closing the loop within the broadcast operation to seamlessly integrate with existing infrastructure while preserving existing investments. Available in both radio and television editions, ProTrack accommodates the single channel or multi-channel broadcaster, distributing in a linear and/or non-linear format, providing a high-level of structure, scalability, and systems integration for today’s rapidly evolving media environments.

Myers returned to NAB for its seventh consecutive appearance sporting a new, shortened name, logo and image. The branding was carried out with a freshly designed booth that took home an ACE Honorable Mention. The ACE Awards recognize NAB Show Exhibitors for their innovations in booth design and execution. All NAB exhibitors in good standing are eligible. Booths are evaluated for their creativity, overall structure and effectiveness to draw in visitors. Judges consist of representatives from Freeman, NAB, and the NAB Show Exhibitor Advisory Committee.
