Chock full of descriptive abstracts, dates, times and presenter details, the PEC represents a full year of intensive activity. The volunteer Convention Committee focused on developing timely, meticulously researched and impossible to duplicate: Broadcast/Streaming, Education, Game Audio, Historical, Live Sound, Master Class, Paper, Platinum, Product Design, Special Events, Tech Tours, Tutorials and Workshops. AES Educational Foundation Announces 2011 Awards

NEW YORK: The Audio Engineering Society Educational Foundation Board of Directors and president Don Puluse have announced the recipients of the 2011 AES Educational Grants for Graduate Studies in Audio Engineering and related fields. President Puluse has also announced the introduction of a new scholarship, named in honor of Emil Torick, founding member and president of the AES Educational Foundation since its inception in 1984 through 2009. This year’s John Eargle Scholar is David Benson, who will receive a PhD from Schulich School of Music, McGill University, which is where he earned his previous degrees. The Eargle award is given annually to a student who excels in both technology and music. more

50 X 50 Campaign Breaks 9.4.11 With Audio Luminary DVD Highlight Clips

NEW YORK: Penetrating, insightful, illuminating and entertaining, the on-going AES DVD Oral History Project is dedicated to preserving the genius of iconic audio pioneers in their own words. In conjunction with the upcoming 131st AES Convention set for Oct. 20 – 23rd at NY’s Javits Center, Committee Chair Jim Anderson developed a fast-paced series of YouTube clips and rousing video promo videos to highlight the series.

Beginning 9.4.11, one video per day will automatically be delivered to the phones of the subscribers. The promos will also be posted on YouTube and Facebook and Twitter. The campaign will wrap on October 23rd, 2011, the last day of the 131st Convention. more

Sound, Hearing and Music: A Journey From The Ears to The Brain, will explore the physical and intellectual intricacies of musical creativity; its inception and perception.
