RTW Launches Online Store on Company Website

Customers Can Now Purchase Selected RTW Products Directly from Relaunched Corporate Website

COLOGNE, GERMANY, AUGUST 25, 2014 – RTW, the market leader in visual audio meters and monitoring devices, is pleased to announce the launch of its new online store, operated by asknet, where customers can purchase a selection of RTW products directly from the company’s website. Now, by clicking the “Shop” icon on the recently relaunched RTW.com homepage, customers can buy a range of RTW metering and loudness tools.

With so much technology now available for download from the Web, RTW saw an opportunity to serve its customers even more promptly and efficiently. It chose asknet, a major worldwide provider of e-commerce solutions, to create and power the store because it enables RTW to sell its products in 26 different languages and more than 30 currencies. This allows the company to reach the widest customer base as possible. Among the products available to purchase through the online portal are models from the company’s smart line of specialized meters, the TM3 Smart and TM3-3G Smart and the recently released Masterclass Plugins Loudness Tools software, with more units being added later this year.

“At RTW, we strive to make exceptional metering products accessible to a wide range of customers, from traditional broadcasters and sound technicians to musicians and music producers,” says Andreas Tweitmann, managing director, RTW. “As with our development of the Masterclass Plugins Loudness Tools earlier this year, the launch of our new online store makes it easier for RTW customers around the world to take advantage of world-class monitoring quickly and easily. It demonstrates yet again, RTW’s commitment not just to engineering great products, but also to exceptional customer service.”

The store operates similarly to most conventional online stores, making it familiar and intuitive for users. Customers can view and select items of interest, read product details and put them in a shopping cart. As the shopping cart is displayed at the top right of the page, customers can easily view the products they have selected.

Another special feature of the successful integration of RTW’s and asknet’s system is the web price service, which ensures that data exchanged between the asknet shop database and the RTW website is updated so that store prices in the product description are always displayed correctly in all currencies on the RTW website as well.

If there are different prices in the shop than what appears on the main portion of the RTW website, it could confuse potential customers and most likely cause them to cancel the purchase. As the eCommerce specialist pays attention to precisely these subtle details, asknet’s online stores attain above-average conversion rates.

The online store’s launch coincides with RTW’s unveiling of its revamped website and updated url, www.rtw.com, which helps customers find the company website more easily.

Whisperings Solo Piano Radio First to Deploy New StreamGuys Interactive HTML5 Multimedia Player

StreamGuys’ unique player design gives “free stream” listeners a richer broadcast experience

BAYSIDE, CALIFORNIA, January 13, 2014StreamGuys announces that Whisperings Solo Piano Radio is its first customer to deploy the company’s new interactive HTML5 player. The player gives mobile listeners without a Flash player a simple way to access the free Whisperings stream, while also delivering a much richer broadcast experience through integrated metadata support.

The integrated metadata gives free stream listeners a synchronized stream with high-quality music and visual information including artist names, song titles and album titles — as well as live links to purchase music through artist sites. Site owner and independent musician David Nevue notes that this richer experience, along with simpler playback on mobile devices, is important to attracting new listeners and retaining audiences in an increasingly crowded and fragmented marketplace.

“Whisperings launched at a time when there was no other online listening option for solo piano music,” said Nevue, himself a solo pianist and composer. “There are many more options today and it is important that new listeners are greeted with a live stream rather than a message to download an app or a plug-in. The HTML5 player works across all devices so visitors don’t have to work to access our stream, while also offering a modern Pandora or iTunes Radio-like experience with artwork, details and buy links.”

Nevue also sees this enhanced experience as an opportunity to interest more listeners in Whisperings PureStream, his commercial-free subscription service that offers an expanded artist roster, customizable playlists and more. Whisperings has long used StreamGuys’ RevenueStream software platform for secure, password-protected subscription controls and conditional access that ensures only subscribers can access the stream. His long-term satisfaction with StreamGuys for content delivery and stream protection played a significant role in his decision to integrate the new HTML5 player.

“I have always thought of StreamGuys as more of a partner than just another company I work with. They provide outstanding customer service and a willingness to find solutions to obstacles,” he said. “StreamGuys has also offered flexible, affordable services to meet my changing bandwidth needs over the years, and they have been receptive and responsive to my requests regarding capabilities of the HTML5 player. They have delivered a multiformat streaming solution with this player that also offers new ways to explore revenue generation for the free stream.”

Nevue’s above reference is to live dynamic advertising insertion, which StreamGuys supports within its HTML5 player via pre-rolls, mid-rolls and post-rolls. He also expects to use the player as an alternative choice for his ad-free PureStream service at a later date.

StreamGuys launched its HTML5 player last month as part of its strategy to ensure that broadcasters, audio publishers and service providers can reach consumers across many fixed and mobile devices. The company is in the process of rolling out its HTML5 player for other customers in the US and abroad.

New Deal Sounds Great to DPA Microphones

Danish microphone manufacturer to start 2014 with The Riverside Company as its new partner

ALLEROED, DENMARK, DECEMBER 17, 2013 – Leading microphone manufacturer DPA Microphones has consolidated its position in the market by joining forces with The Riverside Company, a global private equity firm that focuses on acquiring strong and growing businesses. The Riverside Company’s investment in DPA Microphones will allow DPA to significantly expand its operation and grow the company at a much faster pace.

“DPA is already a very successful and profitable company, which has been experiencing a 15 percent increase in sales, year after year, for the last five years,” says Christian Hoff, CFO of DPA Microphones. “With Riverside involved, we anticipate even stronger sales growth in the next five years.”

Riverside has extensive experience in the audio and electronics industry, having previously invested in German loudspeaker company Teufel, which was successfully divested in 2010. More recently, Riverside acquired BLUE Microphones, a U.S. manufacturer of consumer and performance microphones and related products.

Riverside Partner Thomas Blomqvist explains that Riverside saw DPA Microphones as an attractive partner because it has an innovative and well-designed product range and an international reputation for delivering outstanding quality and durability.

“This is a solid foundation for further growth and Riverside’s global network and experience in the audio industry should help propel DPA to further success,” adds Blomqvist.

Under the terms of the new deal, Hoff and Christian Poulsen, CEO of DPA Microphones, have retained their current positions in management and on the board, along with a 40 percent shareholding. Riverside is now the majority shareholder and will also have representation on the DPA board.

“For our day to day operation, it is business as usual,” says Poulsen. “What has changed is our ability to capitalize on our current success and make this even more significant in the future. Riverside has an extensive network worldwide, many of whom are specialists in the audio industry and have deep technical knowledge and experience that we can exploit. This investment will allow us to develop new technologies and new products at a much faster pace. It will also allow us to move into new markets and attract more good people to our brand, while still properly supporting our existing customer and partner base.”

DPA makes an array of microphones geared toward demanding professional users in application areas such as theater, broadcast, public address, live and studio. Its current product range includes headset, lavalier, instrument and vocal microphones. In addition, the company makes adapters and a variety of accessories to complement its offerings. DPA’s products are sold through the company’s own sales offices in Denmark, the U.S. and Hong Kong, as well as through a worldwide network of licensed distributors, and are used by many of the world’s top studios, broadcasters and recording artists.

Working with Blomqvist on the transaction for Riverside were Vice President Björn Larsson and Associate Martin Gustavsson. Principal for Origination, Lars Eriksson, sourced the opportunity for Riverside. L.E.K., KPMG and Gorrissen Federspiel performed commercial, financial and legal due diligence, respectively. Danske Bank provided financing for the transaction. Audon A/S, an M&A International Inc. firm, advised DPA Microphones.

RTW Provides Audio Loudness Management to Astro Productions

Top Asian Broadcaster Utilizes TM7 During Transition to Unified Metering

KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA, NOVEMBER 25 2013 – RTW, a leading vendor of visual audio meters for professional broadcast, production, post production and quality control, is pleased to announce the sale of eight RTW TM7 TouchMonitors to Astro Production Sdn. Bhd., a leading Asian broadcaster. The TM7s were equipped with several software modules, including: the SW20001, SW20002, SW20004, SW20005 and SW20006 units. Audio loudness standards have been a key concern for many broadcasters worldwide. That being said, the company sought a new tool that would help it to monitor its audio levels consistently. Astro purchased the TM7 TouchMonitors, provided by Stagetec Asia, after demoing a few of the units during its live broadcasts. The company will use them to ensure that all of its production facilities, including its fleet of OB vans, are using the metering and analyzers to have uniform loudness levels across its facility.

“The TM7 TouchMonitor suits our applications very well,” says Dennis Dovale, Vice President, Astro Production Services. “In order to ensure that all personnel and operators have the same frequency, when talking about the audio loudness metering and reading, they need a good monitoring tool such as RTW’s TM7.”

RTW, meanwhile, is thrilled to make further inroads into the Asian market with this sale. “We are happy to support such a prominent broadcaster as Astro,” says Andreas Tweitmann, CEO, RTW. “The entire line of TouchMonitor audio meters was created to help engineers monitor their loudness levels easily and consistently. The fact that Astro has found our TM7 to be efficient and easy to use is further proof of RTW’s commitment to offering modern, innovative solutions for today’s loudness management issues.”
