Myers Introduces Live Log Dynamic Data Exchange Between Traffic & Automation

Leveraging the BXF protocols developed by SMPTE, Myers’ advanced implementation features dynamic updating of running playlists.

Live Log permits users to make and track strategic business decisions within ProTrack. It improves operational efficiency through streamlined processes and enhances sales opportunities by extending log-closing deadlines with the ability to identify, react to and reschedule errant spots.

Media Group International Installs VidiGo’s Visual Radio Solution at Clouds FM

Leading Media Systems Integrator Media Group International has assisted Tanzania’s Clouds FM radio station to give its audience a totally new, interactive experience by installing VidiGo Visual Radio software. The new software will go live on air at Clouds FM within the next few weeks.

The Clouds FM project is the first major radio installation MGI and VidiGo have completed in Africa since meeting at CABSAT 2012 and subsequently forging a partnership. The two companies are now working together to give MGI’s television and radio customers much greater access to VidiGo’s revolutionary range of broadcast software products.
VidiGo Visual Radio was the ideal solution for Clouds FM, one of four stations operated by Tanzania’s Clouds Media Group. Affectionately referred to as The People’s Station, Clouds FM is annually rated the number one station in Tanzania for the youth segment.

MGI’s Sales Director Paul Wallis, who brokered the Clouds FM deal in conjunction with Sales Assistant Diana Velikova, says: “Thanks to its strong reputation for delivering trendsetting programming, dynamic presenters and innovative promotions, Clouds FM is widely regarded as the ‘coolest’ radio station in Tanzania by the country’s 18 to 35 year olds. VidiGo Virtual Radio combines the strength of VidiGo Live and VidiGo Audio Director. VidiGo Live is a full blown software solution for multi-camera TV production. The VidiGo Audio Director is an intelligent extension to VidiGo Live that makes automatic decisions by analyzing audio signals with its advanced algorithms, allowing it to make decisions like a real television director. Finally, the graphics and text overlays are automatically inserted within VidiGo Live, which makes it possible to superimpose content in a live situation using a station’s own designed Flash application.

Alan Dick Broadcast Spearheads Key Antenna Upgrade For Spain’s Torre de Collserola Tower

Cheltenham, United Kingdom — Alan Dick Broadcast Limited (ADBL), a world leader in the manufacture and design of radio frequency components and antennas for radio and television transmission, today announced that it has been awarded a contract from Abertis Telecom for an antenna upgrade to the Torre de Collserola radio and TV tower in Barcelona, Spain. ADBL has been commissioned to replace the tower’s aging unit with its high power, multi-channel FM CPOL Spearhead Panel Antenna with an 8 around configuration to provide an extreme omni pattern

Abertis, one of the main stockholders of the Torre de Collserola, selected ADBL’s FM CPOL Spearhead Panel Antenna because it fulfilled the strict specifications and requirements imposed by the Tower to meet the demands of its customers. In addition to commissioning the system, ADBL will also conduct Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) to ensure optimum performance upon installation.

The FM CPOL Spearhead Panel Antenna offers an extremely heavy-duty screen and dipole assembly that’s constructed of galvanized steel, assuring long trouble-free service under the toughest environmental conditions. The Spearhead Panel, with its massive crossed dipole radiating elements, was developed to meet the demanding requirements of the high power, multi-channel FM market. The panel is ideal for multi-channel operation over the complete FM band from 88 to 108 MHz. A system VSWR of 1.1:1 is achieved for each operating channel.

Torre de Collserola S.A. is a commercial company, founded in 1987, that offers infrastructure services and tower space to radio and TV frequency licensees to optimize their signal transmission. The Torre de Collserola tower’s telecommunication center was architected by Sir Norman Foster, and opened June 27, 1992 for the Summer Olympics.

UHF Broadband Medium Power Panel Antenna for All Polarizations
ADBL is introducing a UHF Broadband Medium Power panel antenna that is now available for Bands IV & V in all polarizations: CPOL, EPOL, HPOL and VPOL. The antenna is designed as either a side-mount or a top-mount for DTV, ISDB-T, DVB-T/H, NTSC or PAL broadcasting.

UHF Broadband Antennas
Now available for both VPOL and CPOL polarization, ADBL is launching two broadband antennas for UHF Bands IV & V, designed as low to medium power solutions, with a special focus on rooftop deployment. The antenna is a vertically or circularly polarized system enclosed by a full cylindrical radome for environmental protection and minimal urban visual impact. The antenna allows multiple UHF channels to be transmitted at the same time. Rugged marine brass and aluminum construction guarantees long life and value (ideal for DVB-T2 [ISDB-T or ATSC digital TV application] channels).

UHF Super Turnstile Antenna
The super turnstile IV/V 470 – 860 MHz Antenna has many outstanding features that bring great value to today’s broadcaster. The radome-enclosed unit can be either top or side mounted on a tower offering long life and many years of continuous service, ideal for broadband multi channel UHF applications. Minimum windloading while providing broadband response makes the super turnstile ideal for applications where either one channel is defined, or multiple channels are combined.

Broadband Elliptical/Circular Polarized Broadband UHF Panel Antenna
With elliptical or circular polarized broadband panels, ADBL offers dual/individual inputs for horizontal or vertical polarization which allows for varying levels of polarization split and pattern performance. JAVA Broadband Log Periodic FM Band II Antenna
The JAVA broadband log periodic FM antenna system is ideal for high gain directional applications, and is available on any standard FM channel (87.5 to 107.9 MHz). JAVA is produced from either rugged aluminum or hot dipped galvanized steel for extreme conditions/environments. Custom directional azimuth pattern and FCC Certification is available on a full-scale test range to conform to the customer’s requirements.

Vietnam Television Calls on Jampro Again for VHF and UHF Antennas

Sacramento, CA — Jampro Antennas of Sacramento, California has been awarded another contract by Vietnam Television (VTV) to supply two high-power broadband antennas, one for VHF Band III transmission, the other for UHF. Both antennas will provide coverage of CanTho, the fifth largest city in Vietnam, and the largest city in the Mekong delta.

“This follows a major 2011 order for ten Jampro DVB-T (Digital TV) antenna systems that were installed at sites located throughout the Socialist Republic of Vietnam,” said Alex M. Perchevitch, Jampro president. “For many years, we supplied Voice of Vietnam (VOV), the founder of VTV, with radio broadcast antennas. That excellent relationship and the proven field performance of our equipment led to this latest award.”

The JHD-HV4 is a half wave spaced, horizontally polarized flat panel, dual-dipole high-band VHF antenna that can broadcast on Band III at 174 to 230 MHz. Rugged galvanized steel construction ensures many years of dependable performance. The JHD antenna has been proven to have excellent bandwidth and VSWR. It’s ideal for VTV’s broadband/multi-channel op¬erations. Many standard and custom directional patterns are available to fit VTV’s coverage requirements.

The JUHD UHF antenna was selected by VTV for two primary reasons. Due to a modular design, it gives VTV flexibility to configure various elevation patterns so coverage can be customized to suit the topographical challenges of Vietnam which range from flat deltas to mountainous areas exceeding 3,000 meters. VTV engineers worked with Jampro’s technical staff to customize patterns to optimize coverage for the sites.

Secondly, the JUHD antenna’s robust stainless steel construction has proven reliable in hot, wet tropical climates. Fiberglass radomes provide additional panel protection.

Jampro is also providing its own manufactured Proline brand of rigid transmission line for both installations and related RF components.

Vietnam Television, or VTV, is the national television broadcaster for Vietnam. Each major city and most of the 64 provinces have their own TV stations. VTV broadcasts several terrestrial cable, satellite and regional channels, plus an international channel.

KXPR Awards Complete Turn-Key FM Frequency Matched Tower-Antenna Contract to Jampro

Sacramento, CA — Jampro Antennas of Sacramento, California has been awarded a major contract by KXPR FM of Sacramento, a classical music-formatted Capital Public Radio station. A long-time Jampro customer, the KXPR contract is for a turnkey installation including a 500 ft tower, JHPC Penetrator FM antenna mounted on a Frequency Matched Tower (FMT), and Proline rigid transmission line.

The model JHPC is a high-power FM version of Jampro’s Penetrator antenna, which has become an industry standard for quality and performance. The Penetrator style radiating element with a 3-1/8” shunt feed line sets a standard unequaled for efficiency and coverage. Each JHPC is factory tuned to any frequency in the FM Band II (87.5 -108 MHz) range on a tower structure that bests simulates the customer’s actual tower. In this case, Jampro is providing its FMT.

Jampro’s FMTs represent the latest technology in RF signal improvement through manipulation of the antenna/tower relationship. Jampro designed the tower structure to match the spacing of the antenna elements. For each of the FMTs, Jampro locates the structural tower members in the optimum position to create a symmetrical backdrop for each of the radiating elements. The result is a mounting environment that minimizes signal distortion and maximizes pattern precision and predictability.

Canadian Broadcasting Vancouver Taps Jampro for High-Power FM Antenna System

Sacramento, CA — Jampro Antennas, headquartered in Sacramento, California, was awarded a contract by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) to supply a high-power FM antenna system to provide very specific directional coverage of the Vancouver, British Columbia DMA. Broadcasting from a tower atop 4,754 foot high Mount Seymour, a Jampro model JAHD Arrowhead Dipole panel antenna will provide the CBC with above average pattern stability and axial control so as not to interfere with adjacent U.S. border stations.

“This JAHD system provides the power and specific coverage that CBC requires, but also the sustainability to survive an extremely harsh mountain environment compounded by heavy winter icing of the Pacific Maritime climate,” said Alex M. Perchevitch, president of Jampro.

In addition to the 100kw JAHD FM panel antenna, Jampro provided an equipment package consisting of a high power Jampro RCCC constant impedance combiner to combine 5 frequencies, along with an RCPU patch panel/ power splitter system, Jampro Proline rigid transmission line and related RF accessories.

The JAHD is designed for Bands I, II (FM), and III and is easily adaptable for multi-station use. The antenna can be config¬ured to provide various azimuth and elevation patterns. By using op¬tional beam tilt and null fill, the elevation pattern can be shaped to maximize coverage. The design of this circularly polarized antenna may be configured to include varying levels of vertical polarization, with results ranging from small amounts of elliptical polarization to full circular polarization.

Jampro’s RCCC FM Constant Impedance Combiner family has a compact modular design that can be configured to fit into the smallest transmitter rooms. A simple modular design allows the easy addition of frequencies as needed. These combiners use temperature compensated Bandpass Filters which have an integrated heat sink top. This keeps filters cool and locked on frequencies.

The Jampro RCPU is a low effort patch panel with rock-solid connection and low insertion loss. No tools are needed to make patch, rather a positive lock mechanism assures quick and easy re-direction of the RF signal path. It’s ideal for patching RF feeds to emergency antenna, alternate main/auxiliary transmitter, filter by-pass, master station combiner re-route and test point insertion. It is available in several sizes, with optional signal flow indicator panel, dual line power splitter and/or power measuring/VSWR.

Philippines’ Solar Entertainment Awards Three Site VHF Antenna Contracts to Jampro

Sacramento, CA — Jampro Antennas of Sacramento, California, was recently awarded three antenna systems contracts by the Solar Entertainment Corporation of Mandaluyong City, Philippines. The order included new VHF antenna systems for tower sites supporting Solar’s Channels 5, 6 and 7 located in the cities of Cebu and Davao.

For Channel 5 in Cebu and Channel 6 in Davao, Solar Entertainment ordered the JHD-LV2 VHF antennas for each site along with rigid transmission line, and Rigid Line Kits.

For Channel 7 in Davao, a JHD-HV4 VHF antenna was specified along with dual runs of rigid transmission line, an RCPU power splitter/patch panel system, and Rigid Line Kits.

The JHD-LV2 antenna is a half-wave spaced, dual horizontally polarized dipole flat panel antenna system with a pressurized feed system designed for Low Band VHF Channels 2 through 6, Band I covering 54 to 88 MHz.

The JHD-HV4 antenna is also a half wave spaced dual horizon¬tally polarized dipole flat panel antenna system with pressurized feed, but engineered for high band VHF for Channels 7 through 13 on Band III at 174 to 230 MHz.

Both JHD models are built of hot dipped galvanized steel, well suited to the tropical weather of the Philippines. These antennas have proven to have excellent bandwidth with typical VSWR. Many omni-directional and custom directional patterns are available to Solar Entertainment to custom fit their coverage objectives for each city.

UHF Broadband Medium Power Panel Antenna for All Polarizations

JVD-U and JCD-U Broadband UHF Broadband Antennas
Now available for both VPOL and CPOL polarization the JVD-U and JCD-U broadband antennas for UHF Bands IV & V, these antennas were designed as low to medium power solutions, with a special focus on rooftop deployment. The antenna is a vertically or circularly polarized system enclosed by a full cylindrical radome for environmental protection and minimal urban visual impact. GeoBroadcast Solutions Names Jampro Antennas as Exclusive Supplier for MaxxCasting, ZoneCasting Networks

CHICAGO — Terrestrial radio innovators GeoBroadcast Solutions (GBS) announce Jampro Antennas as a technology partner to advance its vision of helping radio broadcasters maximize over-the-air signals and grow revenues.

Jampro joins Harris Broadcast as exclusive technology suppliers for GBS MaxxCasting and ZoneCasting networks. MaxxCasting expands FM signal coverage areas, allowing broadcasters to take full advantage of their FCC-allotted spectrum. ZoneCasting, pending FCC approval, brings hyper-localization to radio through targeted over-the-air content delivery.

Jampro will supply all antennas, combiners and support equipment related to installation of these components. The custom antennas are specially designed for these networks, providing the advanced directivity required to ensure both maximized market coverage and highly-specific regional targeting.

Peter Handy, CEO of GeoBroadcast Systems, notes that Jampro brought a flexible approach to its antenna designs that uniquely fit requirements for MaxxCasting and ZoneCasting deployments. That flexibility extends to custom designs that meet the needs of each broadcaster — highly important as coverage patterns and targeting requirements will differ for each market.

“One critical concern is to minimize conflicts created between transmitting multiple signals across the same market,” said Handy. “Jampro clearly addresses these challenges with custom designs that can increase or decrease directionality. This is perfect for ZoneCasting, where we are geographically targeting content across multiple zones in a single market. Furthermore, it is ideal for spreading coverage into areas of a broadcast market that is lacking a clear over-the-air signal.”

The business benefit of integrating Jampro antennas therefore becomes very clear: A larger audience receives the signal due to their exceptional directionality, which means advertisers reach more listeners. This potentially translates to more advertising dollars for the broadcaster by opening new revenue streams.

Handy adds that GBS representatives had a number of conversations with broadcasters at the 2013 NAB Show that recognize the game-changing capability of ZoneCasting, but in the meantime are very interested in the opportunity to increase the distribution of their over-the-air programming through MaxxCasting. This is a perception that Jampro Antennas President Alex Perchevitch echoes.

“As an industry we have always accepted the fact that the legal signal coverage of a radio station is one model, while the actual signal coverage often falls considerably short of what a broadcasters is allowed to service,” said Perchevitch. “A solution like MaxxCasting that allows you to bridge that gap is not only unique, but very compelling.”

Harris Broadcast and Jampro often collaborate on radio and television transmission projects, bringing proven compatibility to GBS for out-of-the-box reliability.
