Myers Welcomes Back WMHT

New York State PBS Affiliate Rejoins the ProTrack TV Family

Northampton, MA – Myers Information Systems – a respected developer of broadcast traffic, business, and content management software – today confirmed the successful reintegration and commissioning of the company’s flagship ProTrack TV at WMHT. The upstate New York broadcaster serves PBS content to more than a dozen counties surrounding Albany, the state capital.

Harris HPX Transmitter Boosts FM Efficiency, Audio Quality for St. Louis Area Radio Station

KLJY-FM engineer points to lower bills, sophisticated technology as superior benefits

DENVER, November 19, 2012
KLJY-FM, a Christian music station serving the St. Louis area, is now transmitting crystal-clear sound to its vast listening audience from a new Harris® HPX® tube transmitter, while also lowering operational costs.

The high-power HPX40 (40kW) transmitter hits the power level required, with a compact footprint that significantly lowers installation costs. Its operational efficiency is also reducing monthly bills for the station, commonly known to listeners as 99.1 JOY FM.

“The HPX40 was the only transmitter in this power range that fit in our space without very expensive changes to our facility,” said Dave Obergoenner, director of engineering, 99.1 JOY FM. “The HPX40 has an exceptionally high factory-rated efficiency that translates to the real world. It draws considerably less power than our old main transmitter, and puts out quite a bit less heat — heat that we would need to air-condition away at this site.”

The station’s impressive power output means that a tube transmitter was a far more cost-efficient choice than a solid-state model. Obergoenner notes that the HPX design offers sophistication in line with the top solid-state transmitters on the market, from intuitive web-based monitoring to redundant power supplies that safeguard its operation.

“The HPX line takes the advantages found in very expensive solid-state boxes of most other brands and implements them in a tube-type transmitter,” he said. “It’s a thoroughly modern, sophisticated design. The web interface has enabled me to connect from hundreds of miles away, and see faults at the St. Louis community tower that left other engineers scratching their heads. This is the most amazing transmitter I’ve installed – and I’ve installed many.”

JOY FM broadcasts in analog-only today, but Obergoenner expects that the station will launch an HD Radio™ broadcast service should the budget allow in the future. He notes that Harris tube transmitters are “considerably ahead of the pack” when it comes to HD Radio field upgradeability.

Obergoenner also points to exceptional audio quality since installing the transmitter, with a nod to the Harris® Digit® CD exciter that generates the signal.

“I’ve installed a lot of Digit exciters over the years — some even driving other transmitters — and they present a fantastic sound,” he said. “The Digit line has always delivered some of my favorite-sounding exciters. There is something huge, yet crystal-clear about the sound they produce. The Digit CD is no exception.”

Jampro Antennas To Upgrade FM Signals For Utah State University

Sacramento, CA – Jampro Antennas, Inc. — a world leader in the manufacture and design of radio frequency components and antennas for radio and television transmission — today announced the award of a comprehensive turnkey project to consolidate three FM signals for KUER, the Salt Lake City-based radio station operated by Utah State University.

Jampro will deliver and install an FM broadband panel antenna, model JAHD Arrowhead Dipole with protective radomes, plus transmission line and required monitoring. An RCCC Constant Impedance combiner will bring the KUER, KUER-HD2 and KUER-HD3 signals together. The system will be housed in a harsh mountaintop environment above 12,000 feet in one of the country’s few remaining manned transmitter sites.

CVM TV, on-air since early 1993, enjoys a forty-nine percent market share and broadcasts a full 24 hours per day of news, sports and entertainment programming.

Jampro successfully met a tight schedule to supply a model JHD LV2 Band I Panel Antenna. The horizontally polarized half-wave antenna, available in spaced dual or single dipole configuration, offers excellent bandwidth and VSWR performance via its pressurized feed system & stainless steel dipoles.

Alan Dick Broadcast to Upgrade Antenna for the UAQ Broadcasting Network

Gloucestershire, United Kingdom – Alan Dick Broadcast, Ltd (ADBL) – a leading supplier of broadcast systems for digital and analog audio / video for radio and television transmission – today announced the award of a contract to upgrade an existing antenna at UAQ Broadcasting Network within the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The modifications will permit Radio Hayat FM, recently launched by Gulf News Broadcasting, to transmit at full power. Hayat (meaning “life”) FM’s modern, upbeat 24/7 programming – a mix of Arabic music along with local and international news – caters to listeners in the 18-39 demographic.

ADBL technicians will upgrade the feed system and dipole panels on the original Alan Dick antenna with new high power components to create a Double Dipole Panel with H90 Horizontal/V90 Vertical Polarization and an Omni-Directional Broadband pattern. The new antennas are being manufactured in Cheltenham for installation at the end of August.

Alan Dick Broadcast Receives Major DVB-T Project Award For (RTB) Radio Television Brunei

TO PROVIDE TURNKEY INSTALLATION

Alan Dick Broadcast — a world leader in the manufacture and design of radio frequency components and antennas for radio and television transmission — today announced they have been awarded a full turnkey project to install and commission a sizeable DVB-T television antenna system in the Southeast Asian Nation of Brunei.

ADBL will provide Radio Television Brunei (RTB) with their vertically polarized 30 panel UHF DVB-T broadband antenna, along with a Constant Impedance Combiner, unitized Patch Panel Power Splitter and Rigid Line kits. RTB is the official state broadcaster of Brunei. Its first radio broadcast was in May 1957; television service followed in March 1975. RTB currently airs five television channels including the national flagship channel, an HDTV service, a 24-hour international satellite channel, and one dedicated to the nation’s Royal Islamic Mosque.
