Genelec Research and Development Manager, Dr. Aki V. Mäkivirta, Appointed Fellow of AES

Genelec is pleased to announce that Dr. Aki V. Mäkivirta, Research and Development Manager at the company, has achieved the distinction of becoming a Fellow of the Audio Engineering Society (AES). The Society’s Fellowship Award is given to a member who has rendered conspicuous service or is recognized as having made a valuable contribution to the advancement in, or dissemination of, knowledge of audio engineering or in the promotion of its application in practice.

“It is a great honor to receive this award,” says Dr. Mäkivirta. “I have worked in audio research for many years, so it is gratifying to have that work recognized by my peers. Over the years we have produced some great products, and I am proud to have played a part in that success.”

Aki V. Mäkivirta was born in 1960 in Tyrvää, Finland. He received Master of Science, Licentiate of Science, and Doctor of Science degrees from Tampere University of Technology in 1985, 1989 and 1992, respectively, and a degree in pedagogy from Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences in 2005. more

Audio-Technica Promotes David Marsh to Director of Sales and Marketing, Installed Sound & Broadcast

Audio-Technica, a leading innovator in transducer technology for over 45 years, has promoted David Marsh to the position of Director of Sales and Marketing, Installed Sound & Broadcast. Marsh’s appointment was announced by Michael Edwards, Vice President Professional Markets. In his new role, David Marsh will be responsible for managing and directing all sales and marketing activities within the Installed Sound and Broadcast markets.

Marsh has been with Audio-Technica since 2000, when he joined the company in the position of Customer Support representative. Over the past decade with Audio-Technica, Marsh was promoted to A-T’s Assistant Regional Manager and then on to Territory Manager, a position he held until his latest promotion. Marsh will help to identify emerging market dynamics and trends, while continuing to address the needs of contractors, consultants and end users, concerning the increasingly intricate requirements of complex installations and challenging applications.

Sennheiser Announces Key Executive Appointments in U.S. and Latin America, Completing Leadership Restructuring in The Americas

Old Lyme, Conn.— October 27, 2011: Audio specialist Sennheiser announces two key executive appointments within its U.S. and Latin American regions, completing the company’s leadership team in the Americas. Effective January 1, 2012, Sennheiser veterans Greg Beebe and Markus Warlitz will be appointed to the positions of president, Sennheiser Electronic Corporation and general manager of Sennheiser Latin America, respectively. Meanwhile, Jean Langlais remains president of Sennheiser Canada. All three executives will report directly to John Falcone, president and CEO of Sennheiser Electronic Corporation, who heads Sennheiser’s business in the Americas region.

EAW Mourns the Loss of Moray McMillin

Whitinsville, MA, USA, September 22, 2011 – EAW® announces the passing of Moray McMillin, a concert touring veteran and EAW Application Support Group Representative for the EMEA region. He passed away at age 58 after a long battle with cancer. McMillin was a strong presence in touring sound for several decades, and he flourished in his subsequent role at EAW. He is sorely missed by the EAW family and the professional audio industry as a whole.

Audio-Technica U.S. Appoints New Personnel to Its Latin American Sales Team

— Alexandre Algranti and Mary Eisaman named to Sales and Marketing positions for Brazil (Algranti) and Latin America (Eisaman) —

Jünger Audio Boosts International Sales Team With Two New Appointments

Rick Plushner Appointed to the Position of Vice President, Guitar Center Professional

Coinciding with its 10th anniversary and a record-breaking sales year reflecting ongoing growth and expansion, Guitar Center Professional (GC Pro), the outside sales division of Guitar Center that focuses on the needs of professional users, announces the appointment of Rick Plushner to the position of Vice President, effective immediately.

Plushner joined the Guitar Center organization in September 2005 as General Manager of GC Pro. At that time, the GC Pro division employed 18 staff members. His directive was to grow GC Pro’s sales force and develop the infrastructure to enable GC Pro to work in tandem with Guitar Center stores. Rick was promoted to Director of Sales in 2006 and then Director of the division in 2008. Over the past six years, GC Pro has grown into a profitable division with four times the sales that it had in 2005, as well as a team of 75 employees. more
