KJWY Heads East with Help From Jampro

Philadelphia, PA – KJWY-Channel 2, Philadelphia recently received a JCPD-LV-6/4(24)R Band I, circularly polarized, 4-dipole VHF panel antenna system from Jampro Antennas to help with its move east from Wyoming to Pennsylvania. Parent company, PMCM TV, LLC, was able to put the station on air after petitioning the Supreme Court regarding the move. Now, with help from Jampro, KJWY is the first full power CPOL VHF DTV station in the Philadelphia region.

The JCPD-LV-6/4(24)R Band I, circularly polarized, VHF panel antenna was selected because of its outstanding axial ratio and circularity. The Antenna, which is equipped with feed point radomes and custom mounting brackets, is configured to produce an omni directional pattern. Also supplied was a Jampro Channel 2 DTV mask filter, and RCPU antenna switch frame with rigid transmission line.

Perchevitch, “KJWY conducted a number of extensive studies on several antenna systems before making its selection, which allowed it to choose just the right antenna type and minimize nulls. Jampro’s VHF panel antenna is a critical piece of the puzzle for KJWY as it becomes the first full power CPOL VHF DTV station in the Philadelphia area. The delivery and installation worked out perfectly well. We couldn’t be more pleased with the results or proud to be able to help PMCM TV, LLC transition its station, KJWY, from Jackson, WY to Philadelphia.”

The Jampro JCPD antenna is a circularly polarized 4-dipole flat panel antenna system with rugged galvanized steel construction that ensures years of dependable performance in even the harshest environments. Gloucestershire, United Kingdom — Alan Dick Broadcast Ltd. “Environmental considerations coupled with zoning and planning restrictions forced the BBC to seek an antenna that could be fitted into the space occupied by existing FM units,” says Alex Perchevitch, President of ADBL. “Nothing suitable existed, so ADBL embarked on a development project to provide a solution that didn’t impact negatively on the FM antenna and met the specification for DAB. Two types of antennas were produced; the Shared Aperture FM Crossbow, and the FM Spearhead.”

The FM Crossbow antenna was designed for square structures and provides an excellent omni directional horizontal radiation pattern from an array of 4 panels mounted around a square structure. The FM Spearhead is suited for triangular structures and provides an excellent omni directional radiation pattern from an array of 3 panels mounted around a triangular structure. The DAB antenna elements were designed to be fitted onto the existing FM antennas without disturbing its installation or performance. The systems were range tested to optimize the RF performance of the combined DAB/FM antennas.

RTW LQL Software Now Shipping Worldwide

RTW, a leading vendor of visual audio meters for professional broadcast, production, post production and quality control, is pleased to announce that it is now shipping worldwide the new LQL – Loudness Quality Logger software.

Developed for logging, true-peak data analysis and reporting, the LQL is compatible with the TM7, TMR7 and TM9 TouchMonitor line of products running with Logging Data Server license (SW20014). The LQL is a natural extension of RTW’s range of innovative software options for the 7- and 9-inch line of TouchMonitor audio meters.

Once activated, LQL enables measured Loudness and TruePeak data to be derived directly via an IP-connection from a capable TouchMonitor audio meter, as well as from external storage media such as a USB stick. The software also includes dual limit weighting, status information, marker and various other reporting features. The new PC software is free of charge to users; however the SW20014 Logging Data Server license is required to enable a TM7, TMR7 or TM9 series meter to be compatible with data export and additional display functions.

The TM7 and TM9 series TouchMonitors, which include the innovative Magic LRA instrument, feature a 7- and 9-inch touch-sensitive display, respectively, and provide unparalleled flexibility and modularity, combined with intuitive control. The software visualizes multiple sources simultaneously. Both support displaying the same signal on multiple instruments in parallel, each with dedicated defaults with both horizontal and vertical operation. TM7 visualizes up to 40 sources at the same time, while the TM9 visualizes up to 48 and the TMR7, specifically designed for radio broadcasting, visualizes up to four.

Various audio interfaces and combinations are available i.e. analog, AES3, AES3id or 3G-SDI. RTW’s entire TouchMonitor range was created to help adhere to all major industry loudness standards, including EBU R128, ITU BS.1770-3/1771-1, ATSC A/85 and ARIB.

ADBL has been commissioned to replace the tower’s aging unit with its high power, multi-channel FM CPOL Spearhead Panel Antenna with an 8 around configuration to provide an extreme omni pattern

Abertis, one of the main stockholders of the Torre de Collserola, selected ADBL’s FM CPOL Spearhead Panel Antenna because it fulfilled the strict specifications and requirements imposed by the Tower to meet the demands of its customers. In addition to commissioning the system, ADBL will also conduct Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) to ensure optimum performance upon installation.

The FM CPOL Spearhead Panel Antenna offers an extremely heavy-duty screen and dipole assembly that’s constructed of galvanized steel, assuring long trouble-free service under the toughest environmental conditions. The Spearhead Panel, with its massive crossed dipole radiating elements, was developed to meet the demanding requirements of the high power, multi-channel FM market. The panel is ideal for multi-channel operation over the complete FM band from 88 to 108 MHz. A system VSWR of 1.1:1 is achieved for each operating channel.

Torre de Collserola S.A. is a commercial company, founded in 1987, that offers infrastructure services and tower space to radio and TV frequency licensees to optimize their signal transmission. The Torre de Collserola tower’s telecommunication center was architected by Sir Norman Foster, and opened June 27, 1992 for the Summer Olympics.

DVB-T/DVB-T2 BROADBAND SOLUTIONS
UHF Broadband Medium Power Panel Antenna for All Polarizations
ADBL is introducing a UHF Broadband Medium Power panel antenna that is now available for Bands IV & V in all polarizations: CPOL, EPOL, HPOL and VPOL. The antenna is designed as either a side-mount or a top-mount for DTV, ISDB-T, DVB-T/H, NTSC or PAL broadcasting.

UHF Broadband Antennas
Now available for both VPOL and CPOL polarization, ADBL is launching two broadband antennas for UHF Bands IV & V, designed as low to medium power solutions, with a special focus on rooftop deployment. The antenna is a vertically or circularly polarized system enclosed by a full cylindrical radome for environmental protection and minimal urban visual impact. The antenna allows multiple UHF channels to be transmitted at the same time. Rugged marine brass and aluminum construction guarantees long life and value (ideal for DVB-T2 [ISDB-T or ATSC digital TV application] channels).

UHF Super Turnstile Antenna
The super turnstile IV/V 470 – 860 MHz Antenna has many outstanding features that bring great value to today’s broadcaster. The radome-enclosed unit can be either top or side mounted on a tower offering long life and many years of continuous service, ideal for broadband multi channel UHF applications. Minimum windloading while providing broadband response makes the super turnstile ideal for applications where either one channel is defined, or multiple channels are combined.

Broadband Elliptical/Circular Polarized Broadband UHF Panel Antenna
With elliptical or circular polarized broadband panels, ADBL offers dual/individual inputs for horizontal or vertical polarization which allows for varying levels of polarization split and pattern performance. Both versions are engineered and well suited for digital/analog TV and mobile video. Built with corrosion resistant stainless steel aluminum reflecting panels, the antennas are designed for long lasting durability.

FM BROADBAND ANTENNAS
JAVA Broadband Log Periodic FM Band II Antenna
The JAVA broadband log periodic FM antenna system is ideal for high gain directional applications, and is available on any standard FM channel (87.5 to 107.9 MHz). JAVA is produced from either rugged aluminum or hot dipped galvanized steel for extreme conditions/environments. Custom directional azimuth pattern and FCC Certification is available on a full-scale test range to conform to the customer’s requirements.

Vietnam Television Calls on Jampro Again for VHF and UHF Antennas

Sacramento, CA — Jampro Antennas of Sacramento, California has been awarded another contract by Vietnam Television (VTV) to supply two high-power broadband antennas, one for VHF Band III transmission, the other for UHF. Both antennas will provide coverage of CanTho, the fifth largest city in Vietnam, and the largest city in the Mekong delta.

“This follows a major 2011 order for ten Jampro DVB-T (Digital TV) antenna systems that were installed at sites located throughout the Socialist Republic of Vietnam,” said Alex M. Perchevitch, Jampro president. “For many years, we supplied Voice of Vietnam (VOV), the founder of VTV, with radio broadcast antennas. That excellent relationship and the proven field performance of our equipment led to this latest award.”

The JHD-HV4 is a half wave spaced, horizontally polarized flat panel, dual-dipole high-band VHF antenna that can broadcast on Band III at 174 to 230 MHz. Rugged galvanized steel construction ensures many years of dependable performance. The JHD antenna has been proven to have excellent bandwidth and VSWR. It’s ideal for VTV’s broadband/multi-channel op¬erations. Many standard and custom directional patterns are available to fit VTV’s coverage requirements.

The JUHD UHF antenna was selected by VTV for two primary reasons. Due to a modular design, it gives VTV flexibility to configure various elevation patterns so coverage can be customized to suit the topographical challenges of Vietnam which range from flat deltas to mountainous areas exceeding 3,000 meters. VTV engineers worked with Jampro’s technical staff to customize patterns to optimize coverage for the sites.

Secondly, the JUHD antenna’s robust stainless steel construction has proven reliable in hot, wet tropical climates. Fiberglass radomes provide additional panel protection.

Jampro is also providing its own manufactured Proline brand of rigid transmission line for both installations and related RF components.

Vietnam Television, or VTV, is the national television broadcaster for Vietnam. Each major city and most of the 64 provinces have their own TV stations. VTV broadcasts several terrestrial cable, satellite and regional channels, plus an international channel.

KXPR Awards Complete Turn-Key FM Frequency Matched Tower-Antenna Contract to Jampro

Sacramento, CA — Jampro Antennas of Sacramento, California has been awarded a major contract by KXPR FM of Sacramento, a classical music-formatted Capital Public Radio station. A long-time Jampro customer, the KXPR contract is for a turnkey installation including a 500 ft tower, JHPC Penetrator FM antenna mounted on a Frequency Matched Tower (FMT), and Proline rigid transmission line.

The model JHPC is a high-power FM version of Jampro’s Penetrator antenna, which has become an industry standard for quality and performance. The Penetrator style radiating element with a 3-1/8” shunt feed line sets a standard unequaled for efficiency and coverage. Each JHPC is factory tuned to any frequency in the FM Band II (87.5 -108 MHz) range on a tower structure that bests simulates the customer’s actual tower. In this case, Jampro is providing its FMT.

Jampro’s FMTs represent the latest technology in RF signal improvement through manipulation of the antenna/tower relationship. Jampro designed the tower structure to match the spacing of the antenna elements. For each of the FMTs, Jampro locates the structural tower members in the optimum position to create a symmetrical backdrop for each of the radiating elements. The result is a mounting environment that minimizes signal distortion and maximizes pattern precision and predictability.
