Cameroon Radio and Television Upgrades to NETIA’s Radio-Assist(TM) 8 Automation Software

CLARET, France — Jan. 24, 2012 — NETIA today announced that public national broadcaster Cameroon Radio and Television (CRTV) is upgrading to the Radio-Assist(TM) 8 range of digital audio automation software, delivered by Belgian systems integrator Studiotech. The added functionality and scalability of Radio-Assist 8 will enable CRTV to support both national and regional broadcast channels, to improve production and delivery of quality audio content, and ultimately help the broadcaster to increase its listening audience.

“In early 2000, we made the decision to transition from analog to digital operations, and we required a radio automation system that would support that shift,” said Timothée Metomo Eduma, post-production exploitation chief of service at CRTV. “Working with Studiotech, we requested an open system that would be easy for all technical and nontechnical users to adopt, and NETIA’s Radio-Assist proved to be the best solution. Since its installation, the NETIA system has served us very well, and the upgrade to version 8 will provide valuable capabilities, as well as excellent ergonomics and a pleasant, intuitive GUI that distinguishes the NETIA software from its competitors.”

“NETIA’s Radio-Assist 8 is a complete end-to-end solution that covers the entire production process,” said Jean Marc Rosenberg, technical manager at Studiotech. “In addition to being the most intuitive, easy-to-use radio automation solution, it offers strong database management tools and optimizes security through both server redundancy and automatic synchronization of content. Finally, Radio-Assist 8 provides solid rights management tools that will be useful in CRTV’s operations.”

The Radio-Assist family of digital audio software covers each part of the production and broadcast workflow, making it easy for users to record, edit, or prepare a playlist. The solution is also equipped with a broad range of tools for end-to-end multimedia workflow. The installation at CRTV will enable as many as 150 users to work with the system, thus contributing to a faster and more collaborative workflow, as well as a better end product for listeners.

“CRTV is a very influential broadcaster within Cameroon, and we’re pleased to be continuing our longstanding relationship with the company and its integrator,” said Pascal Cima, export sales manager at NETIA. “The original Radio-Assist installation a decade ago and the current upgrade at CRTV demonstrate not only the flexibility and long-term value of NETIA solutions, but also the forward-looking design and development of our software offerings.”

Publication is prepared at the same level as the on-air thanks to new planning tools.

NETIA’s Radio-Assist family of digital audio software programs covers each part of the production and broadcast workflow, allowing users to record, edit, or prepare a playlist. In addition to new browse and publishing tools for full multimedia functionality, the software features tools for acquisition, sound-file editing, commercial and music production, newsroom systems, scheduling, multicasting, administration, and more.

Radio-Assist 8 makes three different types of publishing available to users. With the software’s new “Publication” tab, journalists can publish audio-only content and its metadata; publish audio and associated media, such as video, text, or images; or prepare a group of items for automatic conversion and publishing to an array of destinations, such as a podcast, posting on the Internet, or delivery to mobile devices.

Waves Introduces MaxxAudio4 Sound Enhancement Technology at CES 2012

— Next-generation audio enhancement technology enhances the sound of laptops, tablets and smartphones for music, movies, games and streaming video —

At CES 2012, the Consumer Electronics Division of Waves (Hilton 1430), the industry leader in professional audio digital signal processing technologies and recipient of a 2011 Technical GRAMMY® award, is announcing the introduction of its MaxxAudio4 sound-enhancement technology. MaxxAudio4 incorporates a host of proprietary signal-processing technologies to deliver richer, more immersive sound from laptops, portable devices and smartphones, with better definition, deeper bass and a more enveloping soundfield.

MaxxAudio4 builds upon the performance of Waves’ previously available MaxxAudio3 to offer significantly improved audio quality, using technologies that are directly derived from the company’s professional studio processing heard on countless hit records, major motion pictures and popular video games. MaxxAudio3 has received acclaim globally from end users and journalists alike, and MaxxAudio4 now represents the next generation of audio enhancement technology from Waves. MaxxAudio4 incorporates a suite of proprietary audio enhancements including MaxxVolume™, MaxxLeveler, MaxxTreble™, MaxxDialog, MaxxSpace, MaxxStereo, MaxxBass® and MaxxEQ™. MaxxAudio4 will be incorporated into a host of products from partnering manufacturers, which will be named in Q1 2012.

“Audio is becoming more important than ever before in the consumer electronics experience,” said Tomer Elbaz, General Manager of Waves Consumer Electronics Division. We are excited that major consumer electronics manufacturers are recognizing the value that MaxxAudio4 adds to their products in providing a more enjoyable and involving listening experience. MaxxAudio4 overcomes much of the limitations inherent in the smaller speakers found in portable electronics, to deliver surprisingly bigger and better sound that turns a laptop or tablet into a full-blown entertainment system.”

MaxxAudio4 can be tailored to each device it’s incorporated into, yielding optimum sonic performance for each product, whether listening through speakers or headphones. MaxxAudio4 uses proprietary processing that works in real time, for consistently satisfying high-quality sound.

Following is an outline of key MaxxAudio4 technologies.

MaxxVolume provides increased volume levels, improves clarity and increases the intelligibility of softer sounds at quiet volumes.

MaxxLeveler smoothes out volume differences with two pre-programmed listening modes: Normal, with a wide dynamic range for everyday listening, and Midnight, ideal for when you don’t want to disturb others.

MaxxTreble high-frequency enhancement brings out sonic nuances with crisp detail and clarity.

MaxxDialog lets listeners adjust dialog levels in movies and games, without affecting the rest of the audio mix. It’s ideal for Skype users.

MaxxSpace headphone enhancement provides an expansive, enveloping listening experience that replicates a surround sound listening environment.

MaxxStereo improves the stereo separation of laptop speakers by widening the “sweet spot” and creating a bigger stereo spread.

MaxxBass virtual subwoofer technology uses psychoacoustic processing to deliver more satisfying low-frequency response. It’s much more than a typical bass boost EQ – MaxxBass analyzes the audio content to create more natural-sounding bass.

MaxxEQ gives listeners the ability to shape the sound to their preferences, using full frequency spectrum equalization to enhance all types of content from streaming media and music to movies and games.

MaxxSense – adaptive audio conditioning listens to your content before you do – then customizes the sound in real-time, before it reaches your ears.

Of particular note was the launch of A-T’s compact UniPoint microphones, which changed the landscape of business presentations and other installed communications with their sleek profiles and high-fidelity audio. Audio-Technica also established divisions in Europe and Asia during this period.

In the 1990s, Audio-Technica continued to refine and diversify its product range, and its wireless microphone systems, microphones and consumer and professional headphones became industry standards for their exceptional performance, reliability and value. A-T introduced the renowned 40 Series microphones, making the pristine sound of studio microphones affordable for the first time ever. Today, the 40 Series represents a benchmark in studio microphones for leading producers and engineers, as well as high-profile artists in all genres of music, both in the studio and onstage. Additionally, in 1993, Hideo Matsushita took the position of Chairman, and Kazuo Matsushita became President of Audio-Technica Corporation, a position he still holds today.

Since the dawning of the new millennium, Audio-Technica has continued to introduce breakthrough products and systems. In 2008, the company’s noise-canceling in-ear and over-ear headphones set new standards in environmental noise reduction and sound quality. A-T also revolutionized the audio industry with the introduction of its digital SpectraPulse® ultra wideband wireless microphone system. The SpectraPulse products are part of A-T’s Engineered Sound® line of contractor-exclusive offerings, another successful area of focus for the company. Other popular A-T products include the Artist Elite series of performance microphones, its 2000 and 3000 Series Wireless Systems, and its Artist Elite Wireless Systems, the 4000 and 5000 Series.

Today, Audio-Technica is the first choice for a variety of major artists including Kenny Chesney, Gwen Stefani, Jason Aldean, Justin Timberlake, Metallica, Linkin Park, Evanescence, Newsboys, Selena Gomez and many more. Audio-Technica products are used worldwide in numerous consumer and professional applications including live concert tours, broadcast and recording studios, corporate, government and house-of-worship venues, and in high-profile events such as the presidential debates, the GRAMMY® Awards, CMA Awards and the Summer and Winter Games, to name a few.

“We are extremely proud to mark Audio-Technica’s 50th anniversary,” said Phil Cajka, Audio-Technica U.S. President and CEO. “Throughout our history, A-T’s growth has been fueled by our customer-focused philosophy. The bottom line is, we are committed to being in tune with our customers and providing them with innovative, compelling products and outstanding customer service. At Audio-Technica, ‘always listening’ is much more than just a slogan. It’s how we do business.”
