Harris Supports ACC Tests at Alaska Public Broadcasting

Harris announces that it is supporting Alaska Public Broadcasting tests for improving AM transmitter efficiency through Adaptive Carrier Control, a technique used to reduce power consumption. The company has also engaged with the FCC to open the possibility that more U.S. broadcasters can evaluate this green technology moving forward.

The Harris Adaptive Carrier Control (ACC) system is capable of several power reduction algorithm operations. These include Dynamic Carrier Control (DCC), which employs many power saving curves; and Amplitude Modulation Companding (AMC), which also yields energy savings. Together, DCC and AMC efficiencies within the Harris ACC system can potentially reduce operating costs by up to 35 percent. more

All India Radio Awards Jampro Contract For FM Station Combiners And Patching Systems

New Delhi, India (March 29, 2011) — Jampro Antennas, Inc. of Sacramento, California announced here today that it has been awarded a contract to supply All India Radio (AIR) with over one dozen Jampro model RCCC Constant Impedance FM Bandpass Combiners and patching systems. The combiners will be installed at radio stations throughout the country.

Jampro President Alex M. Perchevitch commented on the transaction by phone: “We have been a long time partner with All India Radio (AIR) on numerous antenna projects. Their engineering division was looking for combiners with a compact design to fit in small transmitter rooms and be able provide superior performance and low loss in varying temperatures and environments. Philippines ABC-5 Network Expands With Jampro Antenna Systems

Manila, Philippines (March 22, 2011) — Jampro Antennas Inc. of Sacramento, California today announced that it has delivered a major antenna order to ABC-5 (Associated Broadcasting Corporation), one of the largest, fastest growing TV and radio networks in the Philippines.

In March 2010, Mediaquest, the corporate vehicle for media-related investments of Philippines Long Distance Telephone Company, acquired 100 percent ownership of Associated Broadcasting. The Jampro antenna systems are part of a new build-out strategy to increase coverage to the island nation of nearly 100 million people.

The Jampro broadband UHF and VHF panel antennas will be installed at 10 sites throughout the country. Jampro RF engineers worked closely with the ABC-5 engineering department to choose antennas best suited to individual sites. They also designed custom patterns to achieve specific coverage for each site to cope with many topological challenges posed by mountainous terrain covering an area slightly larger than the state of Arizona. more

Jordan Radio and TV Awards Major Nationwide Contract To Jampro For Multi-Site Antenna Upgrade

Amman, Jordan (March 15, 2011) — Jampro Antennas, Inc. of Sacramento, California announced here today that it has received a major contract from Jordan Radio & TV (JRTV) to supply broadcast antenna systems and related transmission equipment to upgrade four systems in the Mideastern country. JRTV is the state broadcaster of Jordan, a primary source of news, information and entertainment for the population of 6.4 million.

JRTV’s order included Jampro model JUHD UHF broadband panel antennas and combiners, JCPD FM panel antennas, combiners, and associated RF components.

JUHD broadband antennas are DVB-T-ready for UHF bands IV and V and have wide bandwidth for multiple channel operation. Based on a proven modular design and made of stainless steel, JUHDs can be configured to provide various azimuth and elevation patterns. An optional beam tilt and null fill allows the elevation pattern to be shaped to maximize coverage. more

KAVX-FM Switches on New Harris Transmitter

KAVX-FM, serving the Lufkin/Nacogdoches region of eastern Texas and western Louisiana, has turned on a new Harris HPX20 tube transmitter capable of simultaneous HD Radio and FM transmission. KAVX Chief Engineer Tim Swanson in front of Harris HPX20 Transmitter

KAVX is a non-profit organization operating under the Lufkin Educational Broadcasting Foundation. The HPX20 is currently transmitting at 9.5kW TPO (FM-only), and operates at an efficient 23kW ERP from a height of 723 feet above ground level.
Though transmitting in FM only at this time, the station required a new transmitter with HD Radio-capability to replace an analog-only QEI model. Harris installed a FlexStar HDX-FM digital exciter in the transmitter, providing an easy upgrade path to HD Radio when the station is ready. more

Voice of Vietnam Installs Another Jampro High Power Verical Dipole FM Panel Antenna System

Hanoi — Jampro Antennas Inc. today announced that the Radio Voice of Vietnam (VOV), headquartered in Hanoi, is presently installing yet another Jampro antenna system as part of its nationwide network upgrade program. To date, Jampro has over 40 installations in Vietnam. The new system includes a high power 8-bay, 32-panel Jampro model JFVD broadband vertically polarized flat panel FM broadcast antenna, a Jampro model RCCC constant impedance FM combiner and a Jampro Pro-Line rigid transmission line system.
Radio Voice of Vietnam is owned by the Vietnamese government through their Radio and Television Broadcast Development Company. It operates six radio channels broadcasting in Vietnamese and 23 other languages reaching 90 percent of the country. For listeners outside the country, VOV offers online content and programming along with shortwave radio broadcasts. The radio service has news bureaus in about 10 countries, including China, France, Russia, and the US.

In making the announcement, Jampro President Alex M. Kenya Broadcasting Selects Jampro Antennas and Combining Systems for Three Sites

Nairobi, Kenya — Jampro Antennas Inc. announced here today that the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC), the largest broadcaster in the country, has ordered three Jampro model JCPB sidemount broadband antennas, and three Jampro model RCCC constant impedance combiners for installation at network sites.

KBC, the largest broadcaster in the country, is a wholly owned government network chartered to provide public service radio, commercial radio, and television broadcasting throughout the country.

Alex M. Perchevitch, President of Jampro commented on the announcement, “We are very pleased that KBC awarded us these contracts. Our record of outstanding performance in over a dozen African countries is well known by regional broadcast engineers, a fact that helped us win this order.”

The JCPB sidemount antenna is a broadband version of Jampro’s renowned Penetrator design that has become an international standard for performance and durability. more
