Following the most successful year in its 15 year history, White Mark Ltd is expanding its business to encompass India and the Middle East where it has appointed Jeffrey Marcedo and Dylan Hilton as its new agents. The appointments will enable White Mark to offer its high quality acoustic and design services to music, broadcast and film dubbing clients.

David Bell, managing director of White Mark, says: “Jeffrey and Dylan are experienced audio professionals with high level contacts in India and the Middle East. Jeffrey Marcedo has over 15 years’ experience as an engineer and producer in the audio industry. He started his career at Magikraft Studio in Mumbai and has worked with many music directors from India’s Hindi film industry, including Ranjit Barot, Vishal-Shekar, Anu Malik and Ismail Darbar. He has also undertaken sound design work for advertising agencies such as Lintas, Ogilvy & Mather, Rediffusion and Trikaya Grey, and spent four years as Production Manager and Sound Designer at Big FM’s national studios in India.

Marcedo has been involved in a number of high profile audio installations. These include being part of the Big FM National Programming (core) team, which was responsible for the technical set up and programming launch of 45 stations across India. More recently he set up international radio stations for Nile FM and Nogoom FM in Cairo, a project where he worked closely with White Mark, which was responsible for the acoustic and studio design.

Dylan Hilton is a sound engineer, with over 10 years’ experience. He started his career at Ava Audio Labs studio in Mumbai, where he engineered music and film sound projects for many leading Indian musicians. He has also handled sales and technical support for pro speaker brand Turbosound in Mumbai and set up a sound rental company.

Hilton currently runs a sound installation and consultancy company for various clubs, restaurant, lounges, auditoria and theatres. Working with brands such as Martin Audio, Kling and Freitag, JBL, Lab Gruppen and Powersoft, he has recently completed projects for a variety of Mumbai nightclubs and restaurants including Bonobo, Out of the Blue, Oak & Barley, Woodside Inn, Rude Lounge, Indulge, Cult and Della Adventures.

Sennheiser Rocks (and Rolls in the Deep) with Big Grammy Winners

Los Angeles, California, March 1, 2012: This year’s Grammy Awards event, hosted by LL Cool J, celebrating music’s biggest night, went down in history as the second highest rated telecast since the show’s inception in 1959. It was a phenomenal undertaking showcasing nearly thirty diverse musical performances on multiple indoor and outdoor stages, along with a very last minute tribute celebrating the late Whitney Houston. So when Sennheiser artists took the stage, their engineers knew they had to have Sennheiser microphones to assure their performances would go off without a hitch.

Adele, the big winner of the evening, tied the record, set two years ago by Beyoncé, for the most awards won by a female artist in one year. The 23-year-old pop-soul singer won the night’s most prestigious awards, including Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album for 21, Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Short Form Music Video for the single “Rolling in the Deep,” and Best Pop Solo Performance for “Someone Like You.”

The band rocked the stage twice during the Grammy broadcast, performing “Walk” from a tent on Nokia Plaza, adjacent to the Staples Center, then returning to play “Rope” during the electronic dance music segment with David Guetta, Chris Brown, Lil’ Wayne, and deadmau5. Ian Beveridge, Foo Fighters’ longtime monitor engineer, spoke highly of Dave’s vocal mic: “I love that microphone to death. During their shows, we used to have terrible instability problems with other microphones, and I was going through maybe four, five or six microphones a show with Dave, swapping them out. Now, I keep the 431 for the whole show. I can’t remember the last time there was any feedback during Foo Fighters’ show. And these Grammy performances were no exception.”

Bruno Mars, channeling James Brown with his energetic, throwback performance of “Runaway”, had the singer using an SKM 2000-XP with MMD 945-1 capsule. In addition to special programs at the new Salem store, Guitar Center offers nationwide programs designed to spearhead creativity and highlight the nation’s most promising undiscovered talent. Salem residents will now be able to participate in these ongoing national events from their hometown:

Guitar Center On-Stage is an annual competition that provides unsigned artists the chance to open for established artists such as Motley Crue, KISS and Jane’s Addiction.

Guitar Center Singer-Songwriter is an artist discovery program that aims to find the nation’s best unsigned singer-songwriter. The winner receives a career-altering prize package including recording three songs with accomplished GRAMMY® Award-winning Producer John Shanks, recording time at the state-of-the-art Brooklyn-based Converse Rubber Tracks studio and $10,000 cash. The grand finale took place in Los Angeles on Feb. 18.

Guitar Center’s King of the Blues is a nationwide amateur guitar skills competition with the goal of finding the next great undiscovered blues guitar player. This year’s winner, Jonathon “Boogie” Long, performed alongside GRAMMY-winning guitarist Warren Haynes at the Grand Finals in LA, and won an incredible prize package valued at over $50,000.

Guitar Center’s Drum-Off, entering its 24th year, is the nationwide search for the next great undiscovered drummer. Drummers from across the nation compete in the world’s largest drum competition, vying for thousands of dollars in prizes and the coveted title of Guitar Center’s Drum-Off Champion. The grand prize package is valued at nearly $50,000.

Guitar Center Salem is open seven days a week. Store hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Guitar Center Studio hours follow the same schedule.
