Mair Bosworth Tackles Icy Water To Win A SADiE 6 Radio Editing System

Mair Bosworth, who is currently studying for a Masters Degree in Radio Production at Bournemouth University, has been given SADiE 6 editing software as part of her package for winning the 2011 Charles Parker Prize for the best student radio documentary feature.

Mair completes her course in August and, after graduation, she is hoping to make a career in radio.

“My dream is to get to the point where I’m making radio features and documentaries for a living, either as a freelance/independent producer or within the BBC,â€? she says. “This still feels like quite a long way off at the moment but winning the Award has encouraged me to keep trying!â€? more…

Musician’s Friend to Relocate to California

Guitar Center, Inc. today announced plans to relocate the operations of its Musician’s Friend, Inc. business that are currently located in Medford, Oregon, to Southern California early in 2012. Musician’s Friend will continue to operate in Medford through the end of 2011.

“Our customers increasingly appreciate our ability to serve them across our various brands through every potential channel – in-store, online, or from a smart phone or a call center. This relocation will enable us to have our e-commerce experts working side-by-side with our retail experts for the benefit of our customers,” said Greg Trojan, Chief Executive Officer of Guitar Center.

Facilities operated by Musician’s Friend in Salt Lake City, Utah, and Kansas City, Missouri, are unaffected by the relocation. Musician’s Friend had previously announced that the lease on its current facility in South Bend, Indiana, expires in February 2012, and that future plans were being evaluated. more…

Auralex Heads to Set of Hawaii Five-O with Audio Resource Honolulu to Treat ADR Space

Studiofoam Wedges Installed in Dedicated On-Set ADR Facility

LAS VEGAS, APRIL 13, 2011 – Auralex® Acoustics, Inc. (NAB Booth SL8810), the industry leader in innovative sound control solutions, arrives on the set of CBS’s hit series, Hawaii Five-O, as part of Audio Resource Honolulu’s (ARH) on-set ADR (Automated Dialogue Replacement, also known as looping or dubbing) team.

As the dedicated ADR facility for the show, ARH is responsible for all the re-recording of the original dialogue for the purpose of obtaining a cleaner, more intelligible dialogue track. This can be due to ambient noise or to change the original lines recorded in order to clarify context, or to improve the actor’s diction and timing. ARH was asked to create a room on-set to capture the needed ADR when the actors were on break from shooting. A space was identified, but needed acoustical treatment in order to obtain the proper sound quality. Auralex’s 2″ Studiofoam Wedges were chosen and installed on more than 80 percent of the wall surfaces. Now the ADR can be captured either on-set or back at the studio, depending on the location of the actors. more…
